So glad this popped up on TH-cam for me. I grew up with Dinah on TV as did tens of millions of Baby Boomers. The piece didn't mention her longtime support of women's golf and her popular LPGA golf tournament or her very public relationship with a 20 years younger Burt Reynolds. Dinah Shore was married to actor George Montgomery from 1943 to 1962. She died of complications from ovarian cancer.
Those who grew up in the 70s will remember Dinah Shore on her daytime variety show on NBC from 1970-74 and then her daily talk show which ran from 1974-80. That's where her boyfriend Burt Reynolds was a frequent guest on the show. Although they were no longer a couple afterwards, they always had a close bond until she died. Burt always considered Dinah the love of his life.
She always looked youthful. I had college friend in the 70s refuse to believe she was in her 50s during that time. They thought she was 10 years younger. She looked more beautiful in the 1970s than the 1950s.
As a teenager I would sit in the audience with my mother watching and listening to Dinah Shore. This was the time she was friends with Burt Reynolds. Another one of her shows she had Vivian Vance and Lucille Ball as her guest. In two different occasions I got Dinah's autograph. Second time around she recognized me saying, You again! 😊 Mother told her I was star crazy. She gave me a kiss. Thank you Ms. Dinah Shore. Now I blow you a 😘 kiss. (And yes, I'm sort of crying).
I'm sorry to anyone who might have taken offense to how I misspelled BURT Reynolds first name. It was an error on my part. I really like Burt Reynolds met him many times. He was kind to all of us.
@@sharksport01 Thank you @SharkSport. Editing was easy. I didn't know it could be done. Thanks for teaching a new comer. It took a moment to figure out the way to do it. Gee, thank you.😁
Palm Springs is one of the few places she lived and as a patrol officer there i was amazed at how many parts of the city were memorializing her to include the hospital where she died, Desert Regional Medical Center. Her portrait hangs there.
I'm a Boomer and remember Dinah Shore from my youth forward. She was a beautiful lady, with a wonderful outlook on life. Dinah's voice could be matched by no other. I understand why Dinah Shore and Burt Reynolds were so attracted to each other. Burt and Dinah were a perfect match.
I am blonde and southern and kind of husky voiced and I try to be a Lady at all times. Someone once said I reminded them of Ms. Dinah Shore. That was one of the biggest compliments I've ever had. If I could be half the lady she was I'd be tickled as heck!
I watched her variety show on Sunday nights when i was a little kid. I couldn't wait for her to sing The Chevy Song at the end of each show. There are some of her Chevy commercials on TH-cam.
The first time I heard of her was when I was watching The Flintstones as a kid. I think Fred and Wilma went to see a show, and on the theater marquee it said that "Dinah Sore" was appearing. I wonder what Dinah Shore really thought about that. :)
How about Jackie Kennelrock (Jacqueline Kennedy)? Yes, this was during the years of John F. Kennedy's presidency. I couldn't imagine that any celebrity being angry over this kind of recognition. NONE of the Flintstone "celebrities" were ever painted in a bad light. Ever. (This was not South Park). This was just good cartoon fun in a very different time.
What's even weirder is that though Shore died in 1994, seeing and hearing Tom BWOAKAW and his funny way of saying 'r's' announce Shore's passing, made me remember him and the early '90's... before DJT, before O'bummer, before a lot of things.
She was born to Jewish parents. It's too bad they did not mention that in this article. I think many of her fans would have been surprised to know that.
Anyone who knows all the characters named in Adam Sandler's Chanukah Song would not be surprised. "David Lee Roth lights the Menorah So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas and the late Dinah Shore-ah."
Never will be another. One of a kind. Today's so called stars don't hold a candle to Dinah. ❤
I love Sarah Vaughan, but when I hear Dinah, I forget all about her. Dinah Shore was truly the greatest of all!
❤️ her tv 📺 show 1970s
She was one in a million. I didn't appreciate her like I should have.
She was indeed a Class Act
One of the LAST REAL entertainers 😢
The definition of Class..
R.I.P. Dinah
She seemed like such a great person. Someone you really would be drawn too, with such positive energy

I was thinking the same thing when I watched this. She does look younger during the ‘70’s than in the 50’s. Wish I could do that.
It’s true. She looked so hot in the 70s. Not sure I can think of any other women who had that kind of sex appeal well into her 50s and beyond.
Burt Reynolds said that she had the skin of someone
in their 20's!
She was class all the way. It is no wonder Burt Reynolds fell in love with a woman 20 year's older.
I loved Dinah...I always will. A treasure to the earth.

Sweet story.
I was a little girl when Dinah Shore had her TV show. I adored her.
Dinah was the same age as my parents 1917. I’ve heard her singing all my life. See the USA in your Chevrolet was one of her sponsors. ❤❤
One guy who worked on one of her show said "She always knew where her kids were." A loving and attentive mother.
I believe that she was born and raised in Gatlinburg, TN. She was a great entertainer and real. Not a phony like so many so
called stars of today.
Palm Springs is one of the few places she lived and as a patrol officer there i was amazed at how many parts of the city were memorializing her to include the hospital where she died, Desert Regional Medical Center. Her portrait hangs there.

Back when the news was still decent and reliable.
Burt Reynolds said that Dinah was the only woman in his life that he really loved.
She was a beautiful class act! ❤️🙏🕊️

I've been a Chevy man all my life, and because of Dinah, I always will be.
Thank you - lots fond memories of DINAH, unforgettable voice and smile
She would open her mouth, and beautiful music came out.
A very classy warm lady!
I can remember the cartoon version I saw of her in a magazine, Miss Dinah Saur.
She was wonderful! My mother really liked Dinah, like most everyone else. AND: she had Burt Reynolds for about 5 years and he loved her
She seemed like a real nice person
Since her death there hasn’t been anyone saying anything bad about her .
Awww... you can see that Tom Brokaw was sweet on her!
Everyone who saw her was sweet on her. She just radiated joy and warmth
She was a very pretty lady: great 1970s tslk show
Classy lady , with more talent in the tip of her little finger than the majority of popular “stars” of today ! 🥂Dinah !

When women behaved as ladies. No vulgarity, or nudilty.
Amazing back then entertainers used talent to attract people.
Amen Amen and Amen
Sad.
Yes. Remember the Dinah shore show
Oh yes , I grew up watching her talk show early 70’s loved her she is missed
You don't see that kind of class on TV anymore
Isn’t it true? I hate what my grandchildren are having to see today!
She was a very talented and beautiful lady.
I loved Dinah Shore.
35 or younger????? I was 27 when she died I knew who she was.
Now I know the origin of the street in Rancho Mirage.
Dinah Shore was 77 when she died, almost 78. She was born Feb. 29, 1916 (Leap Day) and died just before her 78th birthday on Feb. 24, 1994.
What's even weirder is that though Shore died in 1994, seeing and hearing Tom BWOAKAW and his funny way of saying 'r's' announce Shore's passing, made me remember him and the early '90's... before DJT, before O'bummer, before a lot of things.
Burt Reynolds love 💕
Class
Back when Hollywood celebrities were genuine people.
We’ll never see her like again.
Funny they mentioned the D-Day landing on the shore of Normandy. How many men did Dinah have to push off that tried to land on that Shore? 😆
❤️ her great 1970s talk shows
Wow, it’s been 28 years
Tom Brokaw wasn't too shabby either. A great broadcaster.
I loved her talk show.
A class act all thee way!
I think her Golf tournament became more famous than her. Who could forget the Dinah shore open, and I am a man.
i only knew her through Disney
Very classy
She was the Martha Stewart of the 1970,s
It was rumored that she was black.
I loved her. 🌸

What? She died today?
I didn't know that she was Jewish until her Chevy Show aired on the former JLTV.
Biden has a cabinet full of Khazarians.

So sad to hear this, damn Covid! God rest her.
She died in 1994.

She died of cancer in 1994 a week before her 77th birthday

Burt used her
Very nice, Jewish lady
She had only 19 birthdays as she was born on Leap Year Day.
You're wrong. She was born on March 1st, 1916.
A Lady
She had marginal talent, nothing to write on home about.
