This was a solution to me wanting to pull my hair out yesterday. I wanted to shoot video with my phone because it looks better, but ALSO wanted switch back and forth to share my screen and didn't know how to do that without using my webcam or laptop cam as the main camera. So Dope, thanks!
This makes the Note10+ fairly expensive webcam, but it is truly much much much better than what the Latitude E7400 integrated webcam can do. Thanks for the tip ThinkMedia :) I've tried IP webcam in combination with OBS which produces slightly better picture, but the CPU utilization just kills it. Having the phone connected via USB decreases the latency to a much acceptable level.
I think you have to consider the fact this is detrimental to your phone. Battery use and overheat is an issue. Also if you are using your current phone as a webcam, and what if you need your phone to call into the conference etc? You got no phone to use.
Thank you for this video. Iriun worked perfectly on my Samsung phone and a Windows 10 laptop - plug and play using a USB connection between the phone and the laptop. Just had to select Iriun as webcam in the Windows meeting app. Wow!

WOW! I've been trying to fix my built in webcam on my Lenovo Yoga with windows 10 now for 3 days. Literally 100's of videos and tons of websites researched and couldn't get it to work. Says camera being used by another app and YES I've tried 16 different fixes from a doz websites. This solves my problem and I can now use my phone for teams & zoom!! THANKS A HEAP.
Thanks for the tip. Just tried this with Zoom and it works perfectly. However, FaceTime and Skype don't show iriun, that's too bad. I'm a music teacher and I'v been giving guitar lessons using video since the pandemic. Zoom allows me to use whatever I want, even my canon dslr (with those apps : Camera Live and Camtwist fort the video, loopback for the audio). But, for whatever reason, I can only use my crappy webcam with Skype and FaceTime, nothing else. The majority of my students don't use Zoom (for a variety of reasons : not safe on their work computer, bad connexion compare to facetime, ...). If you have a workaround to use a better camera with FaceTime and Skype, it would be much appreciated. Also, why why why facetime ducks the computer's audio during calls? It is driving me insane hahaha. Thanks again for the help Think Media, keep up the good work and cheers from Belgium

Thank you, it works fine. And 6.99 Euro is not to much for the Pro Version. You dont even need a USB-Cable, it works automaticly with Wifi. (I use a Samsung A71)
It's not a matter of cams being bad quality in laptops, it's the positioning and limitations. In phones the actual cam sensor is close to the CPU, so you can give it direct access to DRAM or even CPU cache, and you can do alot more things quickly with digital processing as a result. On a laptop the cam is located all the way at the top of the lid. That means you gotta route power and data from the main body in the base all the way up to that point, and even then it's still over the chipset bus and doesn't have nearly as much access to sys resources as a phone cam does. There is some good news with microsoft and GPU vendors in the last couple of months saying they're going to implement direct RAM access API's meaning that same tech that's applied to graphics cards could in theory be applied to web cams. But as of right now external cams have been and are still the way to go.

On a laptop the cam is located all the way at the top of the lid. That means you gotta route power and data from the main body in the base all the way up to that point, and even then it's still over the chipset bus and doesn't have nearly as much access to sys resources as a phone cam does.
There is some good news with microsoft and GPU vendors in the last couple of months saying they're going to implement direct RAM access API's meaning that same tech that's applied to graphics cards could in theory be applied to web cams.
But as of right now external cams have been and are still the way to go.

this is is BS, quality is bad because its too small and to keep price low since any serious user use external hardware
