- I'm gonna assume most people have seen this one already, but if not, this is definitely one of the most memorable shows in the history of Candlepin Stars & Strikes. This was the Championship match from the 5th ladder series of the 2004-2005 season of the show, with Chris Sargent taking on Shawn Baker to see who would qualify for the Tournament of Champions.
This match would go on to set several records on the program, with one of the bowlers giving one of the best performances in the history of Candlepin Bowling on TV in general.
Hope you enjoy :D

I just have to say as an avid candlepin bowler for a lot of years back in that time frame I have seen a lot of these gentlemen bowl in person and had pleasure of getting my but whooped by a couple. Thank you very much for sharing these and bringing back some good memories,
BOTH these guys really FIRED the bowling ball!!
Greatest Chris Sargent story, world's early 2000 ( I can't remember 01/02/03) he picks up my teammates bowling ball (Gary Gallant) and says "I'm gonna throw a 460 with these" he threw a 467. The way those pins dance on impact I've never seen before or since G.O.A.T. of my generation. Tom Olzsta generation prior
The 2nd best performance in the history of "Candlepin Bowling." And the best in the history of "Candlepin Stars & Strikes."
Wow. I had never seen this .Amazing
thanks for the post 8-2-2022
I wish his 245 was on video.
it's like the whole retirement home came to watch lol
Whoa.
Wow
Shawn Baker sure got vocal at the end of the third string.
Jeez, that guy got owned by the Sergent.
Sick 193
193 was the second highest string for the entire run of candlepin stars and strikes
196 is the all-time high.

I thought Ed Czernicki had a 197 on here too?
@@emptytombprod 196 actually.
@@emptytombprod Was that on this show or the channel 5 show ?
What a shame he missed that 6-pin. Opportunity for 500+ missed... wow.
Leda Lanes is notroious for being one of the most difficult houses around--- the scores were definitely a bit lower than when this series was taped at Park Place Lanes. To me, that makes Sargent's 497 series all the more incredible. He was as dialed in on this recording as anyone I've ever seen.
It's a tough house? Chris made it look easy haha
@@drummachine434 He sure did. Incredible performance.
@@bgagnon1123 when Chris hit the triple strike Shawn knew it was over and he had no chance of catching up.
193 is what paul berger had in the third string when he rolled the 500
I saw Chris dad Mike roll a 520 for 3 and 841 for 5
Looks like Baker's weak spare shooting skills caught up with him again.
In fact, most of the spare opportunities he missed were easy shots.
Bowlers like Tom Olszta, Rosario Lechiaro, Dick O'Connell, Joe Tavernese, Chris Sargent, Tom and Mike Morgan, Joe Ashline, Paul Berger, Ed Czernicki, Tony LeBlanc, Kansas Snow, Rick Martin, and Dave Richards became legends as a result of their amazing spare shooting skills.
On the first string, Chris Sargent almost got a "Clean Game" as he got 9 out of 10 marks.
Where is Chris Sargent now???? Baker and Surette still bowl
Cut the scores in half pins don't slide like that on a dry plate . That's why they wipe the ball so much if not it would go through the ceiling
If you want to say Tom Olszta was better... fine. But it wasn't by much. Easily the two best ever.
chris sargent had 20 marks in this match
Super Bowling! I remember early 1970s Mike Sargent was a fireballer.
Chris did him one better
33:02 Chris has been using his towel to wipe of the bottom of his left shoe and here he uses the towel to wipe his mouth and face. Gross and very unhygienic.
people were not snowflakes back in the day
@@tazztower44 Very true.
This is new England; different mind set.@@tazztower44
