Sultan Abdulhamid admires western art. He was a sultan who opened schools in the western sense. He had the first opera made. He had his daughters take ballet lessons. He was not very religious as it was thought, even the first distillery was opened during his reign, and he even drank alcohol himself. Abdulhamid in dreams (including in the series) has nothing to do with reality.

Hoe bidden mensen zonder al fatiha te kennen? Eerste wat ik moest leren toen ik bekeerde was al fatiha en als je kind 7 is leer je je kind toch bidden en begin je toch met al fatiha?
Ja idd dit vond ik ook zo apart, maar er zijn dus ouders die het niets boeit en de verantwoordelijkheid ook negeren. Helaas bidt niet elke Moslim!
Turken worden niet streng religieus opgevoed. Dat is overal zo in Turkije. Ook bij de Turken in Europa, hoewel het aandeel bij de laatste groep wel groter is. Het is ook zo dat ongeveer maar 15 - 20 procent van de bevolking of iets dergelijks 5 keer per dag bid. De rest gaat van vrijdag tot vrijdag of alleen op religieuze dagen of helemaal niet.

This video tells me, as a Muslim, that it is the duty of every Muslim, to help the Muslim people of Istanbul (at least of the area where these interviews were done) to learn to do the 5 daily prayers properly. Every Muslim should know Surah Fatiha, and at least some verses of the Quran. Türkiye is a Muslim majority country, and I guess that I am so very sad because I expected that Türkiye would be a beautiful show case of how to have a secular government and society within which Islam is thriving, admired, and practiced widely. ..

Hij zegt ik wil tegen de Muslims zeggen dat ze het niet alleen bij het lezen van de Quran moeten houden, maar ook proberen het te begrijpen/toe te passen. Vervolgens zegt de broeder dat we de Quran van onze Rabb hebben gekregen, net zoals hoe we post krijgen van onze geliefden/naasten doen we ook ons best om deze post meteen te begrijpen/vertalen.

Na de ayaah ; "Moge Allah ons oprechtheid en vastberadenheid schenken. Deze Deen is niet zomaar op ons bureau gevallen, wat er wel allemaal voor is doorstaan, moge Allah ons ook de kans geven om te doorstaan/strijden ("vechten" om progressie te maken). De Quran zou niet enkel op de muren gegraveerd moeten zijn, of alleen voor de overledenen of alleen tijdens de salah gereciteerd moeten worden maar overal waar we gaan, zonder het in te perken tussen de muren van moskeeën" zo ongeveer.
