The Fire Temples Of Iran & Thousand-Year-Old Flames | Timeline

  • Iran is one of the earth’s final frontiers. It’s a country little visited by western travellers in recent years, yet it has been at the centre of world affairs for millennia. I wanted to take a peek “behind the veil” of modern-day Iran. What I discovered was a complex, incredibly hospitable people living in a much-misunderstood country at the heart of a troubled region. My journey takes me from the bustle of Tehran, via the Valley of the Assassins to ancient cities unchanged since Marco Polo first entered them eight centuries ago. But this isn’t just a journey through an ancient landscape. It’s a journey in search of one of the world’s least known religious sects ... the ancient Fire Worshippers Of Yazd.

I am Iranian and a Zoroastrian. I have lived in the US for over 50 years (since I was 9) and have always maintained the main teachings of Zarathustra and tried to teach the same to my children. Good thoughts, Good words and Good deeds. The main pillars of our religion. But, It's sad to have my people persecuted and marginalized in their own country. Despite the three main religions borrowing heavily from Zoroastrianism, they do the most evil acts towards themselves and others. May someday people learn to respect others regardless of their religion, color, nationality, heritage, etc...

It's a religion that moves with the times and is not stuck in some ancient thought process. What is accepted now may not have been 2000 years ago, and thus adjustments are made to advance one's acceptance, so long as this process is not used to hurt others or gain self benefits...

My Brother, may I ask you a question? Do you feel your nation was better off under the Shahs. The Shah of Iran in the 70s. While conservative extremist may have felt Iran was becoming too westernized, surely many aspects of this were better than what Iran has endured now, through the Ayatollahs?

The average, American is brainwashed by their leadership and greedy, souless, capitalist who will do anything to profit off of the misery of others. Your best strategy is to learn to be SMARTER THAN THEM! OK?

Since then you would find lots of big cities like Tehran and Isfahan getting more and more modernized, but that cultural and historic roots remain for ever!

And it makes sense because Iran has labored and struggled so many authoritarian governments and rulers for centuries, they’ve learned that is the only way to survive the lives they lead.

I am a Zoroastrian living in Mumbai, India. Ihave been to Chak Chak (which means dripping water), also called Pir-e-Sabz. I have been here twice and on one of the trips our group stayed here overnight.
All around there is desert, but here there is an almond tree(you must have seen it) which is fed by a perennial stream of water.
On 14th June every year Zarathotis of Iran make a pilgrimage there. There is enough water for the hordes of people.

Denise G- Hill Yes , you are right, I have known a few Iranians colleagues, friends , all really nice people, when I watched Indigo's journey in Iran, it really gave me regrets that I can't afford to go and visit that beautiful country, with such a rich and old culture. I am French.

Arch Lich ~ bc the moment we get to know one another is the same moment we both rejoice bc of all the similarities and never a thought for any such differences. Governments use propaganda and much worse to divide and conquer. Its in the (hidden) hands of the princes of the power of the air ( heir ) We are children of THE ONE MOST HIGH FATHERGOD. Cleave To CHRIST, all else is the many roaded wide gate. To receive HIS SALVATION And Be REDEEMED, go into THE NAME OF CHRIST
