I am speechless and impressed where you catch always such obscure games! Great work and thank you for your work, effort and information you did for your video and sharing it with us! Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 👍
We had Daylight robbery back in the day. One disk. Loved to play it with my bro and sis. Three players at the same time! Pure gold! PS llove your work!
Great selection of games again. One day the obscure time travel adventure I remember from my youth will pop up in an obscure Amiga games compilation I am hoping. It must have been preserved, the version I had was a pirated version. Hopefully it wasn't lost over time. I suspect maybe a couple of game have totally disappeared as far as anyone knows but that is just my hunch about the subject. I've recently been watching 2D pixel game tutorials I may be making my own 2D game soon, I have considered trying to make a time travelling game similar to the one I played but I never got far enough into the game to know what each time zone was. I thought if I can make a game similar enough, the original game makers would sue me and then I can find out what the game was called at least lol.
You're making your own game? That's cool! Do you remember anything about that game that you forgot about? How it started? What was the setting? Graphics style? Anything? It wasn't Future Wars, was it?
@@OldAndNewVideoGames No it wasn't future wars but it was out around the same time, it was like an action adventure as you could interact with objects in the game I don't remember if there was an interface for typing in some things or not, you controlled the character directly in the game and could interact with the fire button. I recently started to remember some other detail about how you had to activate the time portal but as I realised I was remembering something, I was also forgetting what I had just remembered, like it was there for a few seconds then vanished again.
When I was young and still had thick hair 😅there was computer shop on the route from school to home . One day I saw the intro for Death Trap ...I was amazed and almost got home late for lunch .
I've just watched the intro on TH-cam and I can see why you were gobsmacked, it looks great. The parallax is used to strong effect, graphics in general are good, the music is nice and the credits sweep into the foreground stylishly. It looks like an arcade game (at that point; the main game looks less impressive).
@@TheGloriousLobsterEmperor Do that and share the find with me, please. Also, love your username! And I'm a doctor of all sciences, and a future Vampire Overlord, that's not of the vampire kind himself. It's all politics.
Hey, Janosik, it's me - from the future! Invest every złoty you have in Crocs. You know, those plastic shoes. You'll thank me in the year 2035, oh, and don't eat that hamburger in March 2025, it's the worst culinary experience of your life!
The mysterious dinosaur game is mysterious no more. From the description it sounds pretty cool. But if the best time that can be had in the game is learning about dinosaurs, maybe they should have made it a bit more edutainment? Arkanoid clones are usually fun. I even know a pinball table with that mechanic. So Crystal Hammer seems like it's worth a try. I didn't notice how Amiga games have a certain look and feel to them. I'll keep an eye out for that. Actually, I've just come back from the future to invent time travel. How did you know?
The "Amiga look" is not only but best noticeable in platformers. If you see plenty enough of them, you'll know. Also, I had a feeling about you and time. ;) Sadly, Amiga videos get much less views that any other. Well short of C64, these are the toughest to grab attention. xD
@@OldAndNewVideoGames I'll keep an eye out for Amiga platformers then. What gave my time-travelling away? It can't be the sports almanac I brought back from the future... Even if they have fewer views, I'm glad you're still covering Amiga and C64 (though more sporadically). :)
I think I know Cyberblast but I don’t remember it leaving a mark? Crystal Hammer looks OK for 1988, I actually quite like the aesthetic but more importantly it’s an OK Arkanoid knockoff. That being said the problem for all Arkanoid knockoffs is, Arkanoid existed on the Amiga & it was good. I don’t know Daylight Robbery either (obviously) but in spite of it’s rarity I’m not going to bother with a timed game. Death Trap is also new to me. Looks like a cross between Castlevania & Prince of Persia but from what you’ve said it doesn’t sound great? I probably won’t bother. Deathbots sounds like the story is a lot better than the actual game? Detonator tried, you can see what they were going for but again, Arkanoid exists on the Amiga but also yes, the scrolling backgrounds were very distracting. Devious Designs is new to me but one to try & get from what you’ve said & shown? I do remember Dino Wars & I do remember it sucking. If you’d shown me Dojo Dan without telling me what platform it was on I would have immediately said “Amiga,” especially from the music & even though I don’t know the game it still manages to make me feel nostalgic. 😄 Nice & obscure list this time, thank you! I always love seeing stuff for the Amiga I haven’t played yet.
Well, there are many Arkanoid clones perhaps, but some are really interesting. Like that Twinblok we've seen in another video recently. That was pretty cool, and worth playing. Death Trap is not terrible, it's just so difficult... Oh, so so so difficult! xD Detonator on the other hand, is definitely not something for me. Yep, Amiga looks are Amiga looks. Kinda like ZX Spectrum or C64 games, are all instantly recognisable. These two however not by their stylistic choices but rather very distinct hardware limitations. So 8 colours only and colour clash on Spectrum, and 16 different but de-saturated colours and chunky pixels on C64. I like making those Amiga videos. Even if they do rather bad as compared to most others.
Devious Designs has nicely animated graphics, looks like a good game. I'm surprised that the lesser Breakout clone, Detonator, needed 1mb of RAM in 1987. Firstly it doesn't look like a particularly complex game, so what was so much RAM needed for, and secondly the A500 came with just 512k as standard and I expect the vast majority of A500 owners would have only had that half a meg of RAM. The point being, the developer was rather limiting their market with that requirement.
It's true that the Amiga 500 originally came with 0.5MB of RAM, but the later re-releases of the system, and subsequent models all came with 1MB. And very very fast most Amiga owners jumped on the 1MB bandwagon, as majority of games very quickly began requiring that extra memory. Out of all the games I owned back then, maybe a few run on half meg only. The upgrade was inevitable for most of us.

Hey there! And thanks! :) Sadly Amiga videos usually do pretty bad, and not many watch them. :/

Thanks! And yeah, most of those games that "can" be played in multi, are much better in multi. :)
