If I lived closer to the twisties I would definitely have considered it a lot more. Love the style, the noise is awesome and the handling was superb. So very true Paul. They're amazing and impressive machines. But I wouldn't trade my nippy naked for one in the twisties, no matter what any GS owners say!
First and foremost thanks for the work of uploading and editing your footage. All those cameras and downloading, editing is tedious to say the least! This is the kind of riding I like to do when I can find those able. Usually have to settle for kids half my age on 600 cc super sports that like to pop wheelies in town. However excellent footage! once I opened up the screen and focused I caught my self leaning with you guys in some of the corners. I know its a lot of work to get your body positioning correct back and forth, but its a must or your gonna whittle down your pegs lol. Right on and peace from across the pond.
Thank you kindly ES! Glad we moved you to leaning with! 😄 That was a really enjoyable days riding and it’s always more enjoyable when there’s someone that you have to put some effort in to keep up with! 🤙🏼
Cheers Heinz Peter. I've already jacked up the rear preload a fair bit. i think that a simply better rear shock is in order at some point though! Perhaps also heavier springs at the front because if I reduce the preload any more, the front end dive is a little bit too much for my tastes.
@@AndyManCam I bought my cb 1000 r 2018 and since then I´ve got an YSS rear shock. The damping just wasn´t enough and they didn´t change it since today. The yss works well, especially the adjustable length (+-5mm, sum 10mm) helps to make the cb agile nearly as much as you want and you get more ground clearance, too. If you imagine a curve which describes agility and stability over the lean angle (front back) it feels like an "U" or "V". There is a "sweetspot" where it is extremely (mb too much) agile, like a tipping point. If you go more to the left or the right it becomes stable but feels different. One side feels like the bike steers after leaning, the other feels like steering before leaning and it is depending on the speed you´re driving. For me the best point is the back a little bit lower than this point (not sure if the other direction is dangerous in any way, no clue). Some people prefer a more stable bike and push the handle bars to get the direction changed hard enough, but because of the line youre driving I would guess, that it is too stable for you at the moment. If you want to buy a new rear shock, you can try yss (if you want to save a little bit money). However I would recomment to buy Wilbers or even Öhlins , depending on the money you want to spend. My GS 1150 has 2 Wilbers (front and back). There are some details Wilbers just made better. Because of it is very hard to change the rear shocks preload while it is inside the bike I just bought a hydraulic preload adjuster for my yss. Be always sure to keep some static sag while adjusting the preload or the bike becomes unstable on high speeds, it kicks you out of the seat and wobbles. I learned that rebound damping front shouldn´t be to high either. If it is too high it becomes unstable > 220km/h combined with some bumps. Hope that helps you to get faster learning curve than mine. I wish you alot of fun and always remember the masters words "Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is essentially your own." :D good luck
Thanks for the tips HP. I'm learning with my advancving years that it's almost always better to spend a little more and get the good stuff! Not Öhlins good, but Wilbers certainly looks like a favourite possibility.
Morning Andy. Awesome video. I have to say its nice to hear you speaking some German. Your German viewers would probably like this too. Brilliant as always!
Morning! Thanks TML! The Mrs wasn't SO happy as I overdid the jokey stereotypical german accent! Maybe I'll slip a bit more bilinguality in in the future though!

Cheers. I agree! The Reelsteady GO software really adds a huge shine on top though. Any GS riders reading your comments are probably finding it funny... until the penny drops! 😂
Thanks very much BR. I couldn't recommend it more. Just stay away from the B500. It's time has been and gone. Far better riding to be had away from it.
I watched you through the bars of my cage of Lockdown ;-( Sad as that is I think, I think I really did feel the wind in my face and caught the scent of freedom ;-) Cheered me up thank you. Soon, I hope, soon.... !!
I'm so very happy to have helped, however little! It's not sad to feel the wind on your face. Maybe a tiny bit crazy, but if you want something enough! 😜
It was a very pleasant surprise trip down memory lane! Amazing how different it looked without the apocalypse mist and the desperate search for fuel!! Good times.
As ever a cracking vid with some decent uplifting music thrown in. I'd love to be able to ride to that level and throw the bike about with confidence. Until then I look like sitting with the GS at the Konditorei and wondering how those guys actually tour on those bikes....🙄😀 Watching you guys is inspiring and entertaining. Safe and happy riding mate!
Many thanks indeed Pete. Very happy to hear that the videos have that effect! It was a lot of fun being out there on the sportier machines. Well worth the sore arse and stiff shoulders from getting there! 😂
I get the sense of where your head is at, just watching you pass by some amazing culture at light speed: time to travel, catching the next ferry, it all requires light speed time. Personally, I have traveled the same roads at 100+kph on my motorcycle, and 20-kph in a recumbent trike. Believe me when i ride at 100+kph, I'm missing everything. I could not believe all the interest in an area until I slowed it down. I'm not knocking you, the speed is a rush, especially on camera for the audience, it's just there is so much more to share if you slowed it down. I love your videos because it takes me to where I have never been before. Yet, because of the nature of your videos, I will never learn more of where you have been.
I totally agree with you. Although speed is fun and exciting, I do think it's important to see whats around you as well. Obviously in this video there is mostly dense forest, which unless you'Re going to head off the road and into the thick of it, looks quite similar for miles and miles! But we did try to cruise slowly by the beautiful sights and views. Plus the B500 is now heavily restricted, so there is no option than to gently meander along the rolling bends and take it all in. Your thoughts are a very strong argument for not doing too many miles on a day as well though. On this trip Matt, the tour leader, is a very miles oriented and fast riding motivated planner. As such we had a lot of distance to cover and not much time to stop and smell the coffee. Which made for a very enjoyable ride! Plus I can completely understand his attitude there as him and Mike were cooped up in the UK with no hope of a european trip and then suddenly the gates were open! Of course they wanted to squeeze as much in as possible! If I'd have been touring alone, there certainly would have been (hopefully, barring the usual cock-ups!) less miles and more room to stop and bugger about basking in the beautiful views! Each to their very own though. 👍🏻
This is golden👌great to see some stunning roads where I have been myself last year a great feast of recognition. One big negative point about this video.. it's getting colder now and because of this video I want to go to germany to send it 😭
nice vid...may I ask how you connect your GoPro and microphone to record your voice? I want to record myself but don't know how and what I need? thank you
@@AndyManCam thanks for the link...do you use a separate mic inside your helmet or external mic and windsock? And by the way...that is the kind of touring I prefer! I am desperate to tour on my Tuono in the alps.
Andy that was absolutely fantastic, love the series especially the latest incarnation through the black forest!! Usual high end footage, editing and narration, love the channel and in these grim times it gets the mind wondering to the next Euro trip hopefully bringing in some of these roads!! Keep up the great work dude! What type of Columpass is that on the Knox?
I know right! It was fantastic! And the lack of real rain was also a huge bonus! I'm afraid that the CB is SO good, that I actually don't miss the FZ1. It was amazing, but the Honda just fits and works better. Looks cooler too IMHO! But I can't say that too much until the FZ1 owners get used to it! 😜
Thanks mate. It's important not to judge a situation when you can't actually see through the eyes of those you're criticising. He's maintaining his visibility down the road and can see plenty far enough ahead that nothing is coming.
Hi Andy, I'm new to videoing my rides and was in Switzerland this summer on my Superduke, I didn't feel like I was going slow but my footage makes it looked like I was crawling! Your footage is amazing, it looks like you're doing warp 9!!? What's the trick? I've heard of people using ND filters to 'force' more motion blur, is that what you're doing?
Hey Chris! ND filters and locked ISO values are the secret mate. It adds extra levels of complication and when you get it wrong, the footage is scrap. But when it works, it's great! I have these ones: amzn.to/3au8pry
Looks abit spirited that ride mr Andy Cam , I’m all for people enjoying themselves, but always leave yourself a margin for error , in them bends , I’m not talking down to you , or being an arse , I’m a long time biker now 57 , and have had to loose my fast riding spirit , as I’m on beta blockers and anti clotting tablets , abit of rd rash etc wouldn’t be good for me , but 10 15 yrs ago used to go on some very very spirited rides , with a gang of around 12 riders , some very very talented and a couple came a cropper , not dead but air ambulance jobs twice , now when I see fast sweeping riding my heart is in my hand at times , ur a clever man who doesn’t need advice from me , but stay safe and take it easy , as I’ve told my son many times don’t be a hero, there’s none left ,, Shane uk 🇬🇧
I totally agree Shane. I’m all for margin of error. I’d like to see 57 at some point too (not that long any more!). It’s important to remember that the wide angle and the lens blur makes it all feel a lot faster than it is. I’m not a big fan of ever taking the piss out of the speed limit. 👍🏻
I've been to Titisee when it was sunny, and about 30° as well, maybe three times as a matter of fact Mr Mancam. On the other hand also when it was pissing. Is it just my perception or do you hang off this new Honda less than you used to on t'other bike?
Same here, though I've mostly only seen it in rain! I do think that I hang off of the Honda a lot less. I think it just feels somehow more stable and composed and I don't feel the need to balance out the weight of it in the bends. Not sure how much is psychological, but it's definitely a more relaxing ride.
Are you still as enamoured with the bike? It looks good to ride. I still haven't got around to test riding one due to having bought a KTM Duke 390, but I'd like one.
Yes mate, very much so! Loving the crap pout of it and no sign of that changing any time soon. Especially now I've made a few more personal mods to make it fit a bit better. Wider, flatter bars have made the world of difference. (Video to come, of course!)
This was a bit of a belter. I had the cameras running for almost the entire 400ish km. So in total i had about 6 hours of footage. Per camera. For 3 cameras! 😱
It was pretty quiet tbh. I did edit out most of the bits with traffic though, as they're always boring! But as you can see, there was still plenty of long empty bits! 😊
@@AndyManCam The trick is to go there in the week!!! I've been there many times and only once, on a sunny Sunday - it was ridiculous - ALL the bikes (and sports cars) from France, Germany and Swissland were ALL there... :( (I'm talking lots of groups of 20-30 bikes all over the place!! :( )
@@AndyManCam how do Bridgestone S21 compare to Michelin road5 . I’ve got good mileage out of the S21 not the fastest turning due to bigger rear center contact patch hence good mileage for a sport tyre .
In the dry I couldn't really tell too much of a difference. Except perhaps that the S21's were just a little bit more solid and stable when pushed really hard. In the wet, the S21's were more than adequate, but no way they could shift as much water as the R5's. SO the Michi's have it in the wet. As for the speed of turn, I had the same 190/55/17 size in both, but on different bikes. SO I couldn't honestly tell you any difference in the tip-ability. If it were my money and I was choosing between the two, I'd go Road 5's all day long. You can't argue with that incredible mileage with that awesome performance. But watch this space as I'm now running a set of Avon SPirit ST's to see if you really need to spend that much. So far I've done 2000 hideously wet km's and they're very impressive!
@@AndyManCam thanks Andy And Avon often overlooked yet I know bikers who use them like them and usually a cheaper brand . It was mid week I was Black Forest wasn’t mad busy for summer a lot of English bikers had to watch out of speed traps even early morning.
The three songs in this one are: "Crystal Bursts" by Cody Martin "Better Than Two" by The Visitants "Großes Bier, Größere Frauen" by Isaac Joel The music is always listed in the description of the videos too. ;D

@@AndyManCam sehr schön. habe es in deinem livestream video gesehen. Vielleicht können wir uns mal treffen. ich wohn in der von Köln und hab das Sauerland und die Eifel quasi vor der Tür.
It was a joke. 🙄 Though technically airspeed is used as a measure to differentiate between speed through the air and speed over the Ground (groundspeed). When you’re flying at 100mph into a 100mph headwind then your airspeed is 100mph but your groundspeed is zero. But ultimately, while the wheels are on the ground, the airspeed and the groundspeed are identical.
........and that will be a new set of footpegs to go with the worn out tyres !!!!!!!!!!! Why pay for one lap on the Nürburgring when you can ride for free at warp speed in the Black Forest ? Do be careful ( as my Mum used to say ) because we want to see more...........
Haha! In all honesty, it was more the toe sliders on my clowns feet! But they're almost worn out now ! I totally agree though. 30€ worth of petrol will get you a LOT of enjoyment in the Black Forest!
Many thanks Barrie. You can’t please everyone I’m afraid. That’s why there’s a bit of everything in this one. For every video there are always people who don’t want to hear the engine. People who only want to hear the engine. People who would rather music. People who wanted me to talk more and people who wished I’d talked less. It’s an impossible task to make the perfect video, but I’m trying to at least head in the right direction!

Cheers. I agree! The Reelsteady GO software really adds a huge shine on top though. Any GS riders reading your comments are probably finding it funny... until the penny drops! 😂
You nailed the apex on some of those bends mate. Nice riding.
Thanks Mate! Just trying to keep it smoooooth! :D
Great video Andy. Note to self "must do the Black Forest".
Thanks very much BR. I couldn't recommend it more. Just stay away from the B500. It's time has been and gone. Far better riding to be had away from it.
Awesome Andy, loved it! My bike sounds the nuts!
Cheers Mike. I totally agree! Tremendous!
Amazing roads, enjoyed that, thank you
Stay safe
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
What a superb video, thanks 👌
Our pleasure! Cheers for watching Chris!
Wunderbar, Andy!
Wha camera and the setting are you using?
Thanks Felix. It's a gopro Hero 6 but the video is stabilised aftwerwards with ReelsteadyGO software.
Great riding 👌
Thanks ✌️
Ah, the Gasthoffhasshaldenhoff. And some familiar looking roads too, only without the zombie apocalypse mist.
@@AndyManCam 👍😁😁
not much trafic down there in der wald
There was a bit more in the obvious spots, like the B500. But mostly pretty empty. 😍
Nice ride and view.
Thanks James 👍
@@AndyManCam In all honesty I could have done with fewer miles, as you know :)
Absolutely Mike. Would have made it slightly more relaxing. But Matt is a twisty-aholic! 😂
@@AndyManCam ROBO MATT!!
I'm not jealous of those roads don't worry...
I'm good... I'm not jealous... D:
Seriously, what a landscape.
It'S stunning in every way down there. Hope to get back SOON!

Oh god, such a riders heaven !
Absolutely, and then some! Roads for ever! You could lose multiple weeks down there without stopping.
@@AndyManCam im getting too excited just be watching the video ! Hope to go there someday :)
Fingers crossed mate! You could spend an entire month in Germany and still never see all the great areas!
I have never clicked on something so fast just to find that I am 20 hours early.
Better safe than sorry, eh?! 😜
A lot of those roads look very familiar
I agree! I constantly felt like I recognised everything, but couldn't ever be entirely sure!
This is golden👌great to see some stunning roads where I have been myself last year a great feast of recognition. One big negative point about this video.. it's getting colder now and because of this video I want to go to germany to send it 😭
Haha! Sorry about that Gijsbert! Very happy to have shown a few memories though mate. Possible a few more to come in the next episode!
@@AndyManCam looking forward to it. Keep up the good video's
I shall do my very best dear fellow!
nice vid...may I ask how you connect your GoPro and microphone to record your voice? I want to record myself but don't know how and what I need? thank you
Thanks S&S. I have the Gopro mic adapter which connects the camera to the mic: amzn.to/36aKdHN
@@AndyManCam thanks for the link...do you use a separate mic inside your helmet or external mic and windsock?
And by the way...that is the kind of touring I prefer! I am desperate to tour on my Tuono in the alps.
how can someone dislike this video andy!!
A question I ask myself every time Nikhil! But I try not to let it hurt too much. I guess there's no pleasing everybody!
Lovely lovely shots! Perhaps an external audio recorder next time to match the audio to the great video? :)
Cheers Anupam. Will have to see what I can do.
Many, many thanks Mark! Very happy to be able to keep the spirits up! The compass is a Suunto clipper compass: amzn.to/3jmH7E8
So many twisties, so little traffic. Awesome. Miss the FZ1 though?
I know right! It was fantastic! And the lack of real rain was also a huge bonus! I'm afraid that the CB is SO good, that I actually don't miss the FZ1. It was amazing, but the Honda just fits and works better. Looks cooler too IMHO! But I can't say that too much until the FZ1 owners get used to it! 😜
This is my idea of living the dream
You and me both Jordan! I miss it so much!!
those crossings into opposite lane hurt my eyes. the rest is splendid 👌🏻
Thanks mate. It's important not to judge a situation when you can't actually see through the eyes of those you're criticising. He's maintaining his visibility down the road and can see plenty far enough ahead that nothing is coming.
Ausgezeichnet, tief in den Tortenländern,
Have to say, that’s some good editing too.
Haha! Tortenländern! 😂 Many many thanks Christian. Might make a video producer out of me yet!
Abraham Shinken, what a "ledge".
😬😁😊
That Honda looks like a blast to carve through the twisties. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
It really is Bradley! FAR more capable in these kind of roads than it really looks like it ought to be!

@@AndyManCam That can be arranged... ;) :)
Sweet ride...
Thanks! it really was!
This is a proper "sport touring" as i understand it =)
I'm glad it looks that way! We tried to be as sporty as possible! 😜
Mrs. AMC: How long will you be on your ride Andy?
AMC: It's only 200kms so I'll be back in 30 minutes
Hahaha! It was all because of the camera settings! 😜
@@AndyManCam I'll watch that. I like wide bars.

How much hours do you record for this episode? Just to get a feeling.
This was a bit of a belter. I had the cameras running for almost the entire 400ish km. So in total i had about 6 hours of footage. Per camera. For 3 cameras! 😱

Roads Looks a lot quieter than when I was there last year
It was pretty quiet tbh.
@@AndyManCam thanks Andy
And Avon often overlooked yet I know bikers who use them like them and usually a cheaper brand .
It was mid week I was Black Forest wasn’t mad busy for summer a lot of English bikers had to watch out of speed traps even early morning.

"Better Than Two" by The Visitants
"Großes Bier, Größere Frauen" by Isaac Joel

When YOU jump into the forest, THEN you have airspeed.......
My dream
It’s pretty blinkin‘ amazing down there!
Do you have a gpx file of this?
QUite possibly somewhere. I know for a fact that @Matt Mutane does!
