    Local electricity production kinda makes sense. Until late 1890s most electrical equipment like motors, lights etc. was powered with DC power at low voltage, and it is really hard to transmit that very far, so electricity had to be produced locally. Maybe PDX should add a technology that becomes available in late 90s to transmit electiricity to adjecent states, and then in 1900s to transmit to all states with land connection, could also implement power lines/transformer station building with that tech.

    You can go to the switch country menu and in the options there switch to directly controlled investment pool. Since you didn’t switch the country, achievements won't be bricked. No need to wait until the next game. Lately I start with directly controlled and when I switch to coop ownership, I switch to automatic allocation.

      I mean it’s easy to understand. In Victoria your goal is to make the best nation. In real life the bourgeoisie had absolute power (and still has much power) and their goal was to keep it. Improvements in the commoners’ lives couldn’t come at the expense of the bourgeoisie, while in Victoria there isn’t any problem with that.

    • @Almirante1741
      @Almirante1741 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@TacticalAnt420Actually, real life isn't about class conflicts like in marxist fantasies. The improvements of the living standards aren't the result of "crushing the wealthy", but the result of technological advances mostly made by those corporations and wealthy people that you don't like

    • @TacticalAnt420
      @TacticalAnt420 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      @@Almirante1741 I didn’t say they were the results of crushing the wealthy. I’m saying that rich people want to stay rich, so they won’t support improvements if they come to their expense. Electricity became widespread not because rich people thought it was good but because they saw the untapped market.
      However, dialectical materialism isn’t only fantasies, it’s actually quite interesting. I suggest getting into the labor theory of value, I found it fascinating.

    • @Finckelstein
      @Finckelstein 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nte1741 Actually, real life does show how corporations and wealthy people will do anything to exploit us given half a chance. Your idealistic view on capitalism is a fantasy unto its own. The end goal of capitalism isn't prosperity but hoarding wealth in the hands of a few people.
      And yes, our living standards improvements are largely the result of telling corporations to stuff it. Labor unions across the world fought long and hard for them. But people like you would throw them all away in the name of shareholder value. Outlawing child labor, 8h work days, 5 day work weeks, health insurance, pensions, work place safety. All of those things were bought with the blood of the workers.
      But hey, have fun gargling that boot.

      @jasonquigley2633 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kaltaron1284 it's one of the easiest economy boosts you can give yourself early game. This boosts compounds throughout the game. Which means these provinces are extremely good early (they can easily double your income with certain tags), but only so so late in the game. I conquer them ASAP after they discover gold.
      The extra infamy is also small, as neither province is heavily populated, and you're conquering them at a time that you don't have the resources to go on a conquering spree any way.

    • @thebestdamager7400
      @thebestdamager7400 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gold mines are about the best investment of infamy there is (in early game). Especially as european nations, where oranje and transvaal integration is only 5 years. It gets the ball rolling and boosts the economy by sooo much.

    • @jasonquigley2633
      @jasonquigley2633 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thebestdamager7400 it's not even strictly necessary to integrate them.
      But yeah early game gold is the best infamy investment, and there aren't really any other gold provinces that are as easy to conquer. The gold in the western USA (owned by Mexico at the start) will get you into war with the USA, the ones in Peru require a lot of infamy and involve difficult to win wars, and the rest are under control of GPs(Australia, New Zealand, Alaska).
      Conquering them is the best first move for almost every tag. For the rest, it's the best second move.

The other one that is equally or better as good is a mosque in Messina in West Africa (the yellow country) that gives a +20 to access to education. There are 2 levels of free education although it is accompanied by a +10 of power to the church but I think it is totally worth it. I also think there are very few special buildings and most of them give mediocre effects compared to what it costs to make them (10 to 25 prestige is nice and all but it's just not worth the effort).

    Its not uncommon to send electricity to neighboring states and provinces in real life. Even neighboring countries in some cases.
    Not every state really needs a dedicated power plant, but could still use some. Alternatively some have state modifiers that make them better, and could supply their neighbors at a reduced cost.

    For Cultural Exclusion, unless you REALLY want to take the intermediate step to multiculturalism, it doesn’t actually accept any more cultures in most scenarios. Off the top of my head; the only cases it does apply are for Afro-X cultures in the Americas. Like Afro-American culture is accepted by Annglophone cultures under Cultural Exclusion but not Racial Segregation. Same for Afro-Brazilian when you're playing a Lusophone nation.
    For Germany though, I'm all but positive that the only difference between Racial Segregation and Cultural Exclusion is a loss of 50 authority and a loss in % or radicals/loyalists gained/lost in accepted cultures.

    Ludi you seem surprised that the USA has most of its GDP in the north east but that is pretty historical.

    Calling Milka swiss chocolate is a huge insult to the swiss. Milka is south german and tastes nothing like real swiss chocolate.
