This is the problem with idpa: any creativity gets penalized.

How do you get good at stage planning?

I'm thinking of getting into practical shooting. It looks like a lot of fun. I've looked into getting some training but all the classes I've been able find are for more advanced shooters. I'd feel much more comfortable if I could get some basic instruction. How do I get some practical shooting training as a beginner?

Can you cover what basic equipment might be required for a practical shooting course?

Pistol, holster, 5 mags and mag pouches, inner and outer velcro belt, eye and ear protection.
I cheaped out on knockoff mag pouches from amazon and they've been great for 4 years now.
Down the road you might look at shot timers, reloading presses and chronographs.

Question Ben, for that last target under the wall, if I decide to lean forward in such a way that the lower part of my body stays out of the fault lines but my feet do not touch the ground or outside of shooting area, I keep my legs in the air "floating", do I incur on any penalties?, loving this channel!, thanks

Did most people shoot one handed under that wall like you? Was there a third option?

I don't think it's correct to say that your strategies are risky. You've trained to be able to land shots on head box while falling out but she didn't. So for you, it's not really not risky. It would be risky as hell for her. But you could execute that 99% of the time...
