Try to market your products before starting. Check the local market, and find out what they are willing to pay. Then work out your production costs, feed, staff, electricity, water (if you need to buy it), cost of transporting your goods, and 10-20% buffer for mortalities, theft, and increases in feed cost. If it doesn't make sense on paper, pivot to another type of farming.
The biggest mistake is that people invest soooo much money into equipment, staff etc., before checking the market demand.

Dr. Daniel, could you make another video on feeds? As in, how to mix feeds using concentrates at each level, i.e chick, grower and layers mash. I know you use whole maize, maize bran and lime stone with the feed concentrate for layers mash. But do you do the same for growers mash too? Or you only do that for the layers mash?
I look forward to your answer. 😊

Your analogy with eggplant and chicken doesn't work because eggplants are also hard to maintain. Anyone can just plant eggplants, but maintaining them and pushing their productivity to its most efficient level is very difficult. Around 3k eggplant plants can produce a ton of eggplants per week if properly managed. Not sure though if eggplants are a staple of your diet there. Probably not, so there's really no formal eggplant farming.

Just to slave away and live in debt ? Honest question. And why are farms making profit evil.

According to your video title, I expected you to talk about the real evils in business. The world knows them. We have seen how the pharmaceutical companies are ripping big because of their ways of doing business. Talking about some businesses in Uganda running out of business. Besides the lack of market for their products and services, it's vivid that people who have influence or are associated with those in positions of power, evading taxes, illegal businesses, bribery to protect own businesses, getting connections to big government tenders through nepotism and favouritism, hidden illegal source of funds, inheritance of wealth, etc. all this has affected the current struggling businesses of faithful businessmen and women labeling them as lazy people yet it's our world that has become evil indeed.
Whereas I agree with you in terms of economies of scale, this world is not for the faithful or law-abiding citizens. It largely favours those that work for the bigwigs and execute their demands.
I have seen a number of big businessmen in Uganda dying in unclear circumstances, other going broke as a result of being associated with a different political party. Such examples show us exactly what led to their success until things backfired and they ended up in the way we have witnessed. Think about it, why are most city or urban mysterious murders happening to big successful businessmen and women? Is it a good deal gone bad? Shouldn't we be striving to follow their successful footpath? But are we ready to go the extra mile to be used by those in positions of power?
However much we may want to reach the apex of success, this is a stage I am yet to see anyone reach because even the richest people in the world are still hustling with the rest of us juniors in the economy I don't know to attain what.
I am of the view, as much as we would wish the whole world to reach the top (I doubt if this isn't just a trap to keep us struggling until we die), we should remind ourselves of how beautiful life was when our fore parents just had enough for the season. Here we are, everywhere we turn we see advertisements luring us into consumerism seeming like we will miss a lot if we do not upgrade every gadget that we have on an annual basis, making us more of competitors in the consuming sense rather than in the production sense.
