Nicely done.Getting up close and personal with a great representative Sambar stag certainly gets the blood pumping.Great experience for all hunters. Cheers, Rob.
Well Dog, your videos never let me down. If you keep this up mate, I’m going to need a defib to watch you. Keep ‘em coming and as you say Warm Barrels” bud. Yeeeew!!!
A super well done video. Some awesome animals. The rifle sure makes hunting a particular animal so much easier. I’ve killed a ton of animals with a rifle but gave them up for bow hunting. Fewer kills but way more rewarding IMO.
ha ha! yeah fair but so far the tents back but the head is still out there as far as i know! may revisist this week an if dont bring his brother out, will bring him out ha ha
@@HillDogTV hahah spoilt for choice, good stuff man stoked to see you posting again regularly. Sucked when you went down the patreon road but I get it, camera gear ain’t cheap 🍻
great hunt mate, what type of rifle and scope set-up do you have there? I recently moved from NZ and I am looking at getting myself set-up for hunting in Victoria.! Cheers
3006 this one bro, pretty good all rounder for the big deer down here! 180grain peonies and this scope is an old 2-7x33mm as I seldom shoot past 300. This is a 19 inch barrel for stalking
I was stalking along, an interupted him.. He Honked as he was Starrin me down--- had to act quick. as is often the Case with these sambar.... Im a stalker predominatley , put up an shoot up with a moments visual confirmation if its a "shooter" or not
they are both great critters that live in amazing country landscapes. i havnt the budget to be re visiting NZ any time soon at this point in time, but the tahr hunting is awesome challenge , the Chams are pretty cute!
Nice stag , hope the head and tent you left behind are still there when you go back because it would be annoying and a shame if someone stole it and claimed they shot it.
ha ha! yeah, So i retrieved the Tent!! but left the head as it was still quite ripe! i think i hidden it pretty well- an will return again soon! it would be pretty funny though
Gday I dont mind at all. This hunt i was using a Browning Abolt , 19 inch barrel and using the 180gr BTSP from Hornady.. i prefer Woodleighs but unable to obtain at present.
@@HillDogTV sweet just trying to decide what bullet to run with my 308 for deer out to 300m. There's a lot of options isn't there. Anyway what can you do, thanks mate
yeah fair enough, there is a few out there these days.. the 308 is easy on projectiles but the sambar leg bones can rip apart the lighter stuff.. so i opt for a heavier one , esp if limiting to 300m (good max distance) a 180gr SP can work sweet. i used to use 150gr Woodleighs an would of liked a 165gr ideally... bonded /premium projies you can run a tad lighter, when just SP "cup an core" its bit wiser to go heavy. hope that helps
Great stag taken under proper sambar hunting circumstances. Great respect to walk away and let him pass as well
Appreciate the acknowledgment Luke! cheers man
