it's not really secret that Chanyeol is a rockstar. that has always been his dream when he was young that's why he knows a lot of instruments. it just happens that he was more known & was trained as an idol.
Yeah I think it’s just me thinking that since I don’t know that much about him yet & knowing that he’s the main rapper, it seems a little unusual that he tends to be more of a rocker than a typical hip hop/rap guy.
What I love about Chanyeol is how incredibly passionate he is about everything he does. He works and works until he masters whatever it is (he got crazy good at bowling!) and he gets interested in so many different things. But he cares more than anything about his music.

That clip of Creep on Party People shows the functioning bar that was on set for that series. Those are not props. The whole premise of the show was that they served alcohol to the guests (and friends of JYP who happened to stop by). The Kpop world was too stiff to enjoy the concept in the one season it aired, but I hope something like it comes back. JYP was a great host.

Just want to add that I've watched one reaction right after that Kbs show in Berlin, she's a German too but she looked down on his performance coz it was an old song and most of the audience were young and maybe not born yet then. I’ve never seen his Winds of Change performance, it is very powerful. I remember those images as I was close to Chanyeol‘s age when the wall came down. His performance brought tears to my eyes. Chanyeol (the 'Ch' pronounced like in 'church') grew up learning all instruments he plays from being in a band in school...yes a rock band, as for many musically inclined, but specifically talented people like him, he was influenced by western rock and roll. This man knows every single note to the piano and guitar parts of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and will slide on his knees as he 'air guitars' to the song. Like pianists or guitarists that think, breathe and dream music 24/7, he is always tapping his fingers to a beat in his head, or on his headphones, mimicking the piano or guitar, music always moving him. It makes for good songwriting and producing also, with a piano and synth in his room. He has recently bought a building and has set up a nice studio for himself and friend called NNG. Yes, this man's voice, I really prefer over rapping, but the rap is in his heart, but what a vocalist! Check out a single/solo mv of his from last year called "SSFW", (the seasons), which I love. He has many other examples of his singing out there, but my absolute favorite sample is from the same JYP Party People show, as they were with their drinks around the table, he covered a small portion of a well known song in Korea called "Hug Me", sort of a famous break up song, he also did a full cover of the song in a lyric video.
