Absolutely do the New Retirement session - I will be happy to attend! Thanks for doing these Live Q&A's lotta ground covered here and it's right down my alley!
Another tool I use is mindfulness, no joke. Slowing down and concentrating and enjoying silence is amazing for my finances. Not as impulsive or worrying. The book 30 Days to Drop a Bad Spending Habit by Corin Devaso was cool, along with the Tao Te Ching. Living simply is the key.
@RobBerger I am based and live in Singapore. Empower may not be offered outside of North America and i have no local US zip or telephone to setup an account. I am looking for a better tool to track my investment portfolio performance across different buckets, interests, dividends, but not necessary budgeting. I manage my own Excel spreadsheets and would like a more robust tool. Thank you.
Is it possible to automatically update investment balances on something such as Fidelity's tool but with accounts outside Fidelity with 2 factor authentifcation?
Does Empower link to accounts to pull from my two company 401k programs? I have one with Fidelity and one with Alight. They both have funds specific to the respective company plans. If I can link to one or both of these, will Empower bring in the investment mixes and expenses of the funds there? ...or am I better off just figuring it out manually by putting numbers in a custom spreadsheet (I'm pretty Excel/Sheets savvy). Thx Rob!
...or maybe I missed a better tool just for tracking total investment portfolio. I don't want to move money to Empower, nor do I want budget/expense tracking....
The biggest assumption is the rate of returns. This is the main factor in taxes paid. None of these programs can give an accurate depiction of future value of investments. It is all a guess.
He said in a past video if he had to start over he would pick Fidelity. He said Vabguard customer service has been awful and as a customer of Fidelity myself and Rob has said, many funds Fidelity offers are slightly lower than Vanguard even.
I don’t know about the US but here in the UK platform fee for Fidelity is way higher than for Vanguard, later being capped at £375 vs £2000 for Fidelity. I got suspicious when they offered up to £2000 cash back for switching. No such thing as a free lunch!!!
Vanguard has really fallen behind the times. He has suggested Fidelity for years, btw - but likes Vanguard funds. Now with Vanguard ETFs I can’t imagine a reason to be on Vanguard if you are in the US.
Also love M1 Finance, you set up pies or slices of ETF’s or stocks with the percentage you want and they keep it balanced as you invest… no rebalancing, very cool:-)

Great show! Thanks Rob! BTW, the tracker has never worked for fees on any of my ETFs. It works for everything else though - great tool.

@RobBerger - Thoughts on a 45 % vanguard total market, 45% 500 index, and 10% total international until nearing retirement? 26 now.
So did you do it and how is it now.

Yes empower should link it all.
I have about 10 accounts on it including several Fidelity accounts
More long term capital gains may make a higher percentage of your Social Security taxable that would be at ordinary income rates.
Simplicity is essential to live a long and healthy life, I use zero financial Apps.
The financial apps can actually help makes one's life more simple or easier to track and manage various investments.

7 apps to manage my finances?? Dam I feel inadequate 😢
What did I miss? When did you begin preferring Schwab & Fidelity over Vanguard?

Besides I am a Jack Boggle fan and Vanguard is more or less living up to his values.

@@davidmclifton1how has Vanguard fallen behind?
With ETF's you cant buy fractional shares. ETFs you need to buy a share in full.
M1 Finance you can buy fractional shares… check it out!
Fidelity allows fractional shares of ETF’s. So does Robinhood

@@Pdub_ProductionsWeBull and Public too
Incorrect, you can purchase fractional etf shares at numerous brokers. I personally do at Vanguard.
