I love how your hair looks wavy/curly with the darker color! I think the dark color looks amazing on you! Thank you for making this video. I appreciate you bringing up how to approach getting your hair cut to shape your curls. I usually get my hair layered in some fashion but the fact that sometimes it looks bottom heavy, I never thought to ask for hidden layers. I may discuss this with my stylist when I see her next. I’m so envious of how thick looking your hair is. I have the opposite problem. My hair has always been thinner at the ends so I HAVE to get blunt cuts. Or else my hair looks like its thinning and it just looks so unhealthy

Your haircut is the best! I took screengrabs to show my hairdresser. I’m waiting for my hair to grow after a disastrous curly cut in a prestigious salon. It made my hair look uneven, bottom-heavy and shapeless. I hated it! I should have stuck with my “non-curly-haircut” stylist who’s always given me nice long layers, like yours.
I am 100% sure we have the exact same curls and I have such a problem with the "Triangle" and weight of curls on the bottom. I am going to get my hair cut in a few weeks and am very nervous about it. Thank you for this video. My hair is the same texture of your hair (lighter color) and I always get what I call “christmas tree head.” I have a lot of long hair and this looks amazing!
My hair is definitely not as thick as it used to be. I have medium textured hair that's fine but because it's so curly it seems like I have a lot of hair. I feel like it could be due to numerous things, namely colouring it over the years, hormones,genetics,supplements,etc. I'm in Ontario and will finally get a haircut soon. I think I will try a new cut on my 3b curls. Your hair colour and style look lovely by the way!

My hair is so much more defined on the under layers and I'm always pinning back the front pieces, I've never had a shag haircut but I think that's what I'm gonna ask for when I get my hair cut next week ☺️

I have the same problem with the triangle shape. I try to go to each haircut appointment explaining that my hair tends to have a triangle shape if it's not cut right and bring in an example pic of what I want my hair to look like but after I've washed it at home and my hair dries, I'm still dealing with the triangle shape unless I straighten it. Any chance you can ask your stylist if "hidden layers" is a universal term amongst hair stylists? I'm concerned my stylist might not derive the same meaning from it.

I have the complete opposite problem.
I have upside down triangle problem. Big blocky chunky layer around my face and then thin wispy layers so I look like a jellyfish.
The bottom parts of my hair around my neck and almost completely straight, and my hair gets curlier as it gets toward my forehead, both problems have this in common: hairdressers are lazy and don't want to pay attention to difficult textures on your head, and don't want to take the time to dry cut your curls to make the shape look balanced. They just want to wet it and cgut it into Jennifer anniston 1994 hair, the same one size fits all style theyve been doing on everyone since they took their first hair course 30 years ago.
Hi Tabitha! I haven't been here in a while. Your colour and cut look amazing and it's exactly how I like my hair to be too! The province of Ontario had an extra extra long lockdown...so I cut my own hair...at least 3 times! Lol. It's not a total disaster, but throughout the lockdown, I've been thinking about trying a new hair salon that specializes in wavy/curly hair. The hairstylist I've been going to for over 10 years is great, but not an expert in my hair type, which is exactly the same as yours, remember? :) So I think when I finally go to a curly/wavy expert, I'm just gonna show them this video! haha.

what is 2a,b,c waves? my hair is naturally wavy with tendency to go into ringlets on length but flat on top. would class more as mixed waves

Hairstylists are scissor-happy. They probably saw all that new growth and went wild. I learned to cut my own hair back in my 20s. If my hair gets jacked up, at least I can be to blame and it was free. TH-cam has plenty of tutorials.
So if I ask for hidden layers, should my stylist know what that means?
yesssss, it is like a huge problem for me because I like to heat style sometimes too, or even in day 4, I don't want my hair to look like a 5 years old kid cut it 😂 I'll take your advices

I got a hair cut last week from almost waist length to shoulder length.. I had grown out all my layers last 2 years and I thought I'll no longer cut in layers thinking it was no more in style. I had layers almost all my life so I grew them out and got a Blunt cut done.. but guess what it looks ugly at the back..yes it is triangle head and looks really bad..looks like I HAVE to have layers again if i want my hair short..when my hair is longer, there's no triangle look.

Absolutely! Just find a stylist that can do it well, because sometimes if you do too many on that length it can look choppy.. but I had it for my short hair and loved it 🥰
