Great video and production Singh! I wrestled for 8 years in school. In the sport of wrestling you have to have a head covering/cap on if your hair is longer than a few inches, otherwise it would get in the way, so it worked out for me. What I did was to first tie a small turban (about 2 meters) around my joora, head, and halfway on ears, (although in regular dastar this would be my 'bunga' - only around joora). Then I would tie what would usually be my under dastar all the around and making sure to tie under my ears to anchor it into them. This would often still come off in practice, however, I would put the headgear onto this dastar and it would keep it very stable during wrestling.
I've been playing basketball for years, wearing a simple patka has always been fine. Now that I play cricket, I simply do my juda on the back of my head and tie a small patka for wearing a helmet
Nice video ji 🙏 I feel like you delivered your points really well. Editing was great too; it was an enjoyable watch. Looking forward to future videos, especially any travelling vlogs.
Thank you so much for taking this up Onkar. I applaud you for the courage to talk about these things and I think it's so important that we can have a collective conversation about it. So thank you for starting that. I started keeping my kes and tying a dastar 1,5 years ago and it still feels pretty new. Yesterday I went to boxing practice the first time after several years and I couldn't find any way to tie my dastar that wouldn't get loose. So I ended up tying my hair in a bun on the back of my head without covering it which worked out. I also want to do wrestling and MMA and have been thinking a lot about how to cover my my hair. I don't know a way that works though so I will probably continue to keep my hair in a bun without covering it when I go training.
Wonderful video, as usual! As I've commented on your last videos, I love the Sikh content! Im happy that you are able to make videos of such an important aspect of your life and that it is loved by others. Plus, you are spreading understanding of Sikhi which is more than needed.
Very logical and reasonable approach. Sadly, I am only 25 and basically bald in the middle, haha. It doesn't really bother me cuz have a Turban but I feel more uncomfortable not wearing one.
I like the flexible idea. We can still cover the hair in other appropriate way than to abandon the whole spiritual practice in one shot. “Jio sahib nal na hariye teveha passa dhaliye”
Knowledgeable video, thnx bro your fan from Punjab India , i am also a sikh and please do not cut your hair bcoz turban is a gift for sikh from guru Gobind Singh ji and for sports you try dumalla style dastaar and waheguru ji ka Khalsa waheguru ji ki Fateh, again thnx bro for this video and your information 👍🙏
I’m a 12 year old Sikh, I’m confused if we can or if we can’t take the dastaar off. Do we have to wear one when we sleep? Is it bad to take the dastaar off before we eat food? Can we switch dastaars?
Hey @doehri the smaller turban (keski) is usually cut out from a larger turban. So let’s say you buy a normal turban, first you cut it in half of the width and then you cut the length depending on how long you want it to be.
I've been following the Guru's path for about a year now. I've been wanting to start wearing a dastar. I work in construction and require a hard hat on site. What would u suggest? Thank u for doing the vid in english 🙏❤️🙏

I tie my hair on top loosely and wear a patka with 2 strings. It sits quite firmly.

Hello, Singh. It's been a while since you've made a video. I know I'm not the only one who misses your content! I hope all is well with you!
Bro your videos really give me joy. Great video on Dastar!
Thanks my brother!
Very good, Onkar Singh ji.
Hair is nothing to hide from. The most famous Sikh athletes like milkha Singh competed and trained with just a joora. Sikhi is practical
Please continue this series.
