I can relate to change of scenery and a fresh start. I worked at my last job for 16 years then got a new job, many were upset that I left. I wasn't happy for a while, prior to leaving. I like my new job better but still miss some of my old coworkers

@@c-meezy765 i have just been watching him for years, I don't think he ever got prepped for press stuff ever so when he talks its just very random and scattered. I think there have been times steph and dray clown on him for it
He hates doing press conferences... always has. It was an bit of an inside joke among the three. And one of Draymond's duties was to cover all the press time so Klay did not have to. Its where the long Draymond Press Conference came from. By the time Dray is done with a presser, Klay would be on the boat or in the car heading home. And overall you will find Klay does very few media engagements beyond the contracted mandatory. In the contract mandatory stuff he has a set of standard answers and generic positive descriptions he uses when asked about others and wont deviate from it. Of the three he was the private one by a wide margin.

I don’t think people realize the great many odds he had to overcome, to rearview the brutal injury. The work and physio he had to put in, would have been incredible.

They did. It just wasn’t a max contract like he wanted. He wanted the same contract that his ex-teammate Green got. The problem is that Klay regressed heavily due to his injuries and he hasn’t been the same player he was before he got hurt. The regression in his performance affected his value to the Warriors. It’s unfortunate, but I can see why they didn’t give him a max contract. I can also see why Klay might have been frustrated because he likely felt that he deserved a max contract based on his past reputation as a clutch performer in the playoffs and lockdown defender. It’s a shame things had to end this way, but he had a great run. His legacy with the Warriors will forever be immortalized. There will never be another team like the Warriors when he was still there.

At the end, there was no deal that was going to make him stay. His role had always been very set in GS and the change to it was tough in various ways. (Partly due to the timing of it and how in his absence many aspects of his role went to other players so for the better part of a year he would end up in the wrong place on the floor and run into his teammates or crowd an area negating certain passes and actions. Sort of a situation where he did his job and was great at it but now the product has changed and his adaptation to it was hard. The idea of joining a new team to fit into what they do - with a fresh start and no history - will be a good and liberating way to regain his love of the game. It was an accumulation of grievances and money was a small piece of it. LA offered more years and comparable money - but he wanted a fresh hoops start away from the familiar, and his dad is in LA as the announcer so, probably like going back to HS for him. All the money in the world wasn't going to make him happy, in GS, just like the $43M he got for last year didn't make him happy.

Klay will lead the league in 3pt percentage next year
With two guys commanding the double team on the floor playing with him, very likely that could happen. He will be a willing third option in Dallas at this point - despite struggling to not be the 2nd option with the current GS team. Although he is and has always been a streaky shooter. So during the slumps - which can last a week or two - it can look bad, but once he gets out of it, you get a crazy string of high shooting percentage games and records. And I can see how he could really fit what Dallas does in a few two man actions which will leave his defender lost. When his mind is right he doesn't miss many open shots. Doesn't deal as well with contested shots as others, but get him open and its buckets. And he is one of those rare guys that can get to that reflexive state where the craziest shot attempts swish.. almost like he is unconscious... and when that happens he is the best shooter in the world... yes, better than Curry when in that mode. Its why when his teammates see him in that zone they just feed him the ball every play. Honestly, great move for him, the Mavs, and GS - beyond nostalgia, it solves a lot of problems for each participant.

I think a couple of things happened here. He's no longer the second option with Warriors, it was Kuminga for the latter half of the year. He could have stayed but as said in this interview, Dallas is deeper now. Also, there's no pressure for him to be the second option. With Dallas, he is the third option, this is why it didn't matter to him that he's making less in Dallas than with Warriors.

The Mavs was just in the finals against the Celtics, and Mavs only got ride of Derrick Jones and added Klay. So technically Mavs and the Celtics are the 2 teams that has the best chance of winning a chip in the next 3 years.
