The best thing about Thailand other than people and the food is tuk tuk rides, beautiful temples and the nature. As an American I love being in a culture that's very different from my own. Maybe they call that culture shock but it's not shocking, it's pleasantly learning new and wonderful things.

Well done champ. From an Australian's view point one of the best things about Thailand is climate. There is nothing better than leaving Sydney during the winter months of June, July and August escaping our winter and lazing around Thai beaches and generally taking it easy away from the hustle and bustle of Western World City life and, of course, it is so affordable compared to the cost of living in Australia. Cheers Chai 🤩

The best thing is Essan, if you don't care for the tourist grind. Learn to count and about 25 other survival Thai words. Get on any mode of transportation going no where and ADVENTURE to unknown places to discover accidentally. My preference is motor bike(can put it on the train too). I call it no reservations travel. This is when the people and food really 'pop'. The bus has a sleeper and 3rd class for the train. When you know what you are doing it is cheap and fun and comfortable. I have found rooms for 1.50 US and 5 star 75.00 that would cost 500.00 plus per night in USA. This also works if you have more time then money.

Thailand is probably the one the best places to go right know. Because the us cities very horrible dangerous their feeling homeless ÷ drug effected people and very bad riots young teen crisis ÷ closing major business stories including very dangers beating assaults happening there! The best place right know especially during the weekends! Have a great fabulous wonderful day.

"Racism is almost non existent when you travel outside the United States." This guy has obviously not spent enough time in Thailand or Asia in general. Way more racism here than in the United States. In America, I've never seen a sign on a school saying "No black teachers." Here in Thailand, these signs can be found in the windows of some English language centers in Bangkok. In America, you pay one price no matter what race you. Here in Thailand, you pay according to your race, from entering National Parks to paying for a license driving course to food and goods. You are constantly judged on your race. Many Thais believe all blacks are drug dealers from Nigeria from all the media and propaganda. Ignorance is bliss. - 10-year Thailand expat here.

E. you are safer HERE. ( On a remote island in a developing country 8000 miles away from violent America) And they were right. Never had One incident of racism UNLESS it was from expats who take theirs with them wherever they go. Been traveling Asia for 8 years, now in Saigon and I can say too, racism is practically non existent. It's a wonderful place to be; Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines.

Thailand is changing. Example I took a bus from Trat to Pattaya Center Road
When I arrived at Pattaya, they stopped about 2 hundred yards short of Center Road. I told them I had booked to Center Road.
We could see Center Road but they said it was not a stop. I had to get off and walk to Center Road. The bus passed me to go past Center Road! Basically Thais will not do anything they are not paid for. I have other examples. I first came to Thailand in 1988.

It might be hard if you expect the operators in tourism business to have better english skill. If they have, that means they're in the well educated level and the operator work won't be their choice of job, better choose to be in the management level or worse in the other well paid industries job.
