This one, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho are his most thorough influential and referenced movies. However, Notorious, Rebecca, Strangers On A Train, Shadow Of A Doubt, The 39 Steps, Rope, The Birds are also Hitchcock movies are worth checking out.

14:43 Thanks for including that "Inspiration from the landlady once a month" line. Always loved it.

This is where I start chanting "Rope, Rope, Rope, Rope" over and over again - very highly recommended! Another James Stewart Hitchcock vehicle, definitely worth a watch.

One of my favorite movies, a classic; and I think Thelma Ritter always improves any movie she is in.
Another favorite suspenseful movie is Charade (1963).
If you've never seen The African Queen (1951), that's a classic movie staring two greats.
And no one shouldn't miss watching To Kill A Mocking Bird (1962).

Must add The Trouble with Harry.
You should pay attention to the characters of Rear Window and how they relate to the story, this movie is far more complex than first look.
Notice the pianist is in pursuit of the perfect song, and he rejects the girl because she is too perfect, just one example.

An older underrated film that's a lot of fun is FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT, which was nominated for an Academy Award for best picture the same year as ANOTHER Hitchcock film, REBECCA, actually won!

Hitchcock's greatest period started in 1954 with Rear Window and culminated in 1963 with The Birds. In between were The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, North By Northwest and Psycho. All worth delving into. Others are 1965's Marnie with Sean Connery, 1948's Rope, 1943's Shadow of a Doubt and 1955's dark comedy The Trouble With Harry.

Dial M for Murder is another Hitchcock movie you might enjoy.

I don't say this lightly, but....that was one of the best movie reactions I've seen!
I also really like the way your extremely witty commentary doesn't overpower the movie itself but compliments it. That was a great half hour or so of enjoyment. I've just subscribed and am looking forward to checking out your back catalogue.
An intelligent and fun reaction....so what's not to like?

You should add "The Man Who Knew Too Much" to your list. Not the original one with Peter Lorre, but the remake that Hitchcock did with Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day. That's another terrific Hitchcock suspense movie.

You would probably like both “To Catch a Thief” and “The Trouble With Harry” Hitch used the same screenwriter, John Michael Hayes. No dogs die in either of these films.

I'm happy to hear about your plan to react to "North by Northwest." It's a highly enjoyable masterpiece.

Hitchcock really got us on this one. We were guessing all the way through.

To add to the wonderful suggestions from other commenters , I would suggest Hitchcock's " Strangers on a Train"

The dialogue feels quite "modern" in a way. Delivery is natural, and witty throughout. Honestly one of the few old movies I don't find boring

The 39 Steps is a classic, before he moved to the US.

Better for the movie to play it straight than to come up with highly unlikely explanation as to why it only looked like he had murdered her.

How about the movie 'A Dog's Purpose' where there are several doggie deaths, but it is the same dog being reincarnated. He is a different breed each time, and has various adventures. (i.e. a German Shepard Police dog.) Bring tissues.

The man was expected to support the woman/family. Yet SHE is attempting to determine what sort of work he should do. And that was so common that men worked themselves to death faithfully supporting their family.
