20:23 you're literally the most civilized tourists that came to Sofia I've seen in ages hahah. I'm sick of seeing tourists crossing the boulevard like sheep over there, many don't realize there is an underpass and that it's actually illegal to cross over there. I can't remember how many times I honked at some idiots who crossed there without even looking. And it's 90% of the time obviously tourists.
Also again big props to you guys for using the public transport and not just relying on taxis, since obviously as you know it's a way better form of exploring the city and you can see the overall atmosphere much better like that. It's not the same as just staying in the car and that way you also explore more places, even these detours you did aren't bad since you saw some non-touristic parts of the city.
You should've taken a walk at the ski centre though, it's very nice over there and you can walk around. Albeit obviously best time as I mentioned in an earlier comment is to visit during summer - best is around June when the days are at their longest and it's still not super hot.
Next time visit again in summer and combine it with a trip to Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo, for example. Or visit some more obscure place, if you're into Communist things, like Buzludzha.
Maybe rent a car from Sofia next time in summer, and then do some larger road trips around the country, visit Plovdiv and from there take a tour to Buzludzha.

Thanks for your extensive comments! It does kinda astonish me how many grown up people don't know how and where to cross a road properly. I was told how to do this at age 5 or 6 haha. About public transport, yes we like to explore using it since I think it's the most authentic (and usually also the cheapest) way to get to know a city. Also public transport in European cities is usually pretty good unlike the dumpster fire it is in the US (I have now flashbacks to the terrible metro in LA where I was nervous and felt unsafe the entire time)..
I hope I can return to Bulgaria soon, I really want to visit Plovdiv at one point because of it's cultural significance. Also some other friends of mine want to do a beach vacation in Summer, maybe I can convince them to go the Black Sea instead of some Spanish island for the 100th time haha. But we'll see.

Next time you should come to Sofia in the spring/summer. The weather is nice, there are many people outside, many events going on and the city is very vibrant. Also there is a City Museum, which is really interesting , an Illusion Museum, Archaeological Museum and you definitely should visit Rila Monastery. It's huge and amazingly beautiful. It's a must see.

We wanted to go to Rila Monastery, we couldn't make it unfortunately. Thanks for the recommendations!

It is actually a mineral water. It doesn't taste good however, while warm because it contains H2S dissolved in it. Before drinking it shall be left to cool down in the open bottle, so the H2S evaporates.
There is one naturally sparkling mineral water spring that is not in Sofia.

This is the first time I have seen warm water coming out of a spring. That was interesting; I actually live near a couple of thermal baths where the warm water is used.

@@whr_vlogs Bulgaria is 3rd in Europe in abundance of mineral springs - after Iceland and Czechia. Many of the springs are with warm/hot water - Sofia, Velingrad, Sandanski, etc.
