My aunt passed away, and I inherited some of her portfolio and cash savings. I'm 51 and have about 400k in cash savings. Everyone's telling me to invest, so what stocks are good for a long-term buy? The only major purchase I plan to make is buying a home in 5 years from my returns.Any guidance in this regard would be much valued.

Agreed, investing with the help of an advisor set me up for life. Retired with about $1.6m in stock portfolio only. I worked hard everyday as a teacher for 32 years, and my salary was over 100k annually. Supplementing my income with stocks and alternative investments helped me by far beat the retirement age before 65.

It depends how they get the 1 million. If the average person was just given a million dollars no strings and they have never had experience with large sums of money they will be miserable almost every time. Jim Rohn is one of my favorite speakers of all time. R.I.P.

It depends how old you are, where you live, what bills you have, etc. For example, give an 18 year old a million dollars and it's not like he's set for life, but give a 65 year old a million dollars and he is set for life. That, and of course a million dollars in New York City won't last you as long as say living in Mississippi. So it all depends.

He may have some solid points but with a mill, you can still buy your own condo/townhouse outright, start your own business, buy a couple of investment properties to bring you some cash flow, buy stocks and crypto, buy a lightly used car and still have a few grand left over to cover emergencies etc. in most major cities in the US!

Invest between Apple, Google and Amazon, Mrvl, Or NVIDIA ?
Buy 1 million worth of BTC ?
Or just buy a comfortable home, couple cars. Keep some extra for insurance etc.

Perspective matters. Only about 1.1% of all adults worldwide are millionaires.
Most people don't even realize that billionaires are not sitting on a billion dollars in cash. Huge chunks of their net worth are usually attached to super-successful businesses. Ever thought about how much work and resources it requires to build one of those?? Mindlessly chasing numbers can really end up destroying your peace and happiness - especially if you think having money will make people like/respect/admire you. People in this society want to eat the rich, not befriend them.
Be mindful about how much money you actually need/want and why. It will spare you a lot of unnecessary heartache in the long run. 💛

On the 600 you have left you could spend 30k a year as your mutual grows in the good years and you’ll keep seeing larger returns. And that’s if you just sit on your tail.
