I am not kidding. This is the single most helpful TH-cam Video I have ever seen. It is specific only to a very small subsection of Excel issues, and saved me immense time. Thank you.
Holy Molly... this is exactly what I was looking for... Super excited I found this. Definitely had to view it like 3 times but I think I got it to work on my file.
You are a star! I have been to trying get the exact same result to categorise my personal expenses from a bank statement! Thanks a lot! Stumbled upon you channel after going through a ton of other videos and websites.. Subscribed!
Thank You so much. I've been looking for this method for some time now, this video is truly a big help for me and my colleague More power and looking forward to your new videos. God Bless
1. What is i have blanks in my keyword list? 2. What about if i have "sign" or "tip" in my keyword list, and dont wont it to recognize "design" or "tips", (without being capital sensitive)? Maybe a part 2 video??? You saved my day by the way!!
Thank you so much for this video! It was super helpful. I have one question though, How can we apply this same method to do multiple keyword search?? I really appreciate anyone's help on this.
you are a real life saver. but what if the same course is assigned to 2 categories, can we present the 2 categories together and if yes please tell me how. Thanks
This is so good... however i am having issues when the data set includes partial text of another cell. Like S-10 and S-100, I need the result to be S-100, but S-10 comes first so there are issues.
It’s working for just the first string of text and then resulting 0 for the rest. Looks the array value is not starting from beginning for the 2nd record and further. Could anyone help?
I am having the same issue. It's because when I drag down, rather than using the original reference table cells, it uses those cells but down one line, and so on. I havent figured out how to fix this. Did you figure it out??
Found my issue! See 5.52 in the video. I had missed the dollar signs before certain reference cells. Those dollar signs make those cells an "absolute" reference cells, meaning they will not change when dragged. Without the dollar signs, that are relative reference cells, so will change when dragged.
I did exactly as you have it.. but once I put in the MATCH function =Match(TRUE,ISNUMBER(Search(Array,Cell,)),0) ... i get the #N/A error Update: I downloaded your example file... and it breaks as well and your cells end up as '#N/A'
@@SLHomie I had the same problem but can't resolve it. Not sure if it's to do with being on a Mac... command + return didn't work for me. any chance you can elaborate?
Thank you for the video! However, is there a way to do this with multiple keywords in a cell for instance Photoshop,After Effects, and Premier in one cell with the adobe category?
This is the only video on youtube that handels this specific topic. This man deserves a lot more recognition!!!
Exactly!

Thank you for this video, but if the text I want to categorize having 2 or more suited keywords, how can I assign it into 2 seperated categories?
Exactly what i was looking for! I was trying to do If is number search and kept hitting a wall
Thankyou, this won't work if formatting is different right? for example its " adobe" instead of Adobe , then it wont pick.
This is so good... however i am having issues when the data set includes partial text of another cell. Like S-10 and S-100, I need the result to be S-100, but S-10 comes first so there are issues.
so helpful ❤❤

Thank you so much for this!!!!!!!!!!!!
awesome explanation
Thank you for this!!! You saved me hahahahaha
What if Let's say one string fits two categories, and I also want them to be listed to both categories, how would I do that? Thanks
Thank you 😊
Sir is there any limitations of this, as some of cells are not accepting the data they are just providing "0"
Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou!!
What if, i have a combination of keywords in a single cell and i want those keywords to be searched within a sentence(text)
Yes, I have the same question as well. The keyword is actually multiple words. How do I do that..?
Any idea on how to do this exact same thing with power query ?
It’s working for just the first string of text and then resulting 0 for the rest. Looks the array value is not starting from beginning for the 2nd record and further. Could anyone help?

I couldn't find a tutorial of this in Google Sheets 😢
Hats off!
I did exactly as you have it.. but once I put in the MATCH function =Match(TRUE,ISNUMBER(Search(Array,Cell,)),0) ... i get the #N/A error
Update: I downloaded your example file... and it breaks as well and your cells end up as '#N/A'
Crlt+Shift+Enter ... that's the key here... I didn't realize it till now.
@@SLHomie I had the same problem but can't resolve it. Not sure if it's to do with being on a Mac... command + return didn't work for me. any chance you can elaborate?
@@SLHomiefinally must be {=index($i$3:$i$9,match(true,isnumber(search($h$3:$h$9,b3)),0))}

Thank you so much. I finally found the right video after 10 hours of Googling!😄
Respect!! :-)
