A great way to help shelters and pounds is to foster a dog! its really a great idea, especially if ur not able to commit to a whole dogs life to adopt one.

Ive known a dog who never was adopted and died in the shelter, even tho thats not ideal, he only was at nighttime in his cage, during the day he got cuddled and walked and everything, so he died being loved thats better than dying because he or she is in the shelter for too long, due to people themselves

He was a year old and weighed only 800 grams and he could not stand. I called the journalist who wrote about the case and made contact.. I drove the 100 odd kilometres hoping he was still alive and he was. I adopted a cat which could only lie on the ground and wetting himself when I came near him. Took him home and fed him on cats milk for a few weeks as he just threw all solid food up again. He slept in a box for a few day but one night saw him creeping into my bedroom and lay by the bed. This went on for a few days and he managed to jump on to my bed. The next morning, he was licking my face and just then I knew I found my best friend. Shabin is now 12 years old and he feels human. He knows the sound of my car and waits for me when I come home. Sometimes I see him waiting at a junction 600 metres from home if i am late.

I was considering getting a dog from a breeder until I started to do some digging and saw this video. I am glad Hope for Paws posted videos like these for future pet owners consider adopting rather than buying from a breeder. I am now looking to adopt dogs like Edie. A dog is not just a companion, but it's also a family member with lifetime commitment .
I am jealous of people who can adopt. I would love to, but with allergies, adoption is incredibly hard to do. There are no guarantees that the breeds involved in a rescue, are allergy friendly breeds.
Put all breeders out of business. If you need a papered dog to feed your ego as a status symbol buy yourself a status car like a Porche or Mercedes. These are sentient creatures worthy of love and respect.
I only dislike these videos because they usually break my heart and iam on a fixed income, not much money to do anything about these wonderful souls but, I have a canine companion that means the world to me, Lucee is now 3 years old, a mix breed of Shepherd and Husky...she sleeps in my bed with her own pillows and blankets. I can't imagine anything bad happening to her
exactly people sometimes think there dog is being mean to them so they go and have him or her put down but all they needed was some love to show that you still cared for them
Two of my "little" dogs got very upset hearing Edie's cries as she was rescued (as I played the video). They barked, cried and ran to me.... I kept telling them that it was all right, that she was saved. I do hope that they understood what I said. My dogs are also "rescues." Though they didn't go through what Edie did, they seem to understand, and have empathy. I think that just hearing her cries was traumatic for them. Thank God she was saved! I hope my dogs will believe me.

The last time my friend was picking a dog at the pound, a Kodak said that one of the dogs look ugly and that he hoped the dog would get putdown. My friend walked up to the pound owner and said that she was going to adopt that dog. That made me SOOOOO happy to hear that she saved it. I showed her your channel and she watched about 12 hours worth of saving dogs for the next time she sees a stray dog. :-)

I visit the local animal shelter often and I remember seeing this tiny poodle, like he was the size of a pop can, and he was huddled in the corner shaking. He was an older dog, 13 I think, but I wanted him because he was so adorable and I felt so sad he was scared. Someone else had already started adopting him though. If I had a ton of money id buy a huge farm and adopt all the animals I could. Lol.

It's always a good idea to to shave a long-haired rescue dog like Edie when it's brought in. First, its fur is often tangled and matted and shaving the dog is usually easier for both human and animal than trying to comb the tangles out. Second, clipping or shaving long-haired rescue dogs makes it a lot easier to examine them for injuries and treat them for fleas or ticks or other skin problems -- the chances are very good that any dog which has been living on the street for awhile has fleas.
Workers at shelters don't have time to hug all the animals...that's why I as a regular visitor to the cat and dog shelters, just go in and snuggle them. They need it, but then so do i.

Loved this! Of course I cried! I love my 3 and want to do so much for so many more. We rescued a little dog much like this about 3 years ago, and so for about 2 years, we had 4 lovely four-legged family members! lol He was very old with tumors and not expected to live very long. Our love took him two years longer than the vets prognosed!

+MIckey F'in Mouse Well, if they'd have a visible tumor that couldn't be treated and it's obvious they're in constant pain, then prolonging their life has nothing to do with love for animals any more. I've seen dog owners who made their pets go through this state of terminal cancer rather than putting them down. That is, in one word, just sad. Sadder than letting these animals die like that. Of course, one mustn't be quick to judge. You can take life, but you cannot give life just like that. That is why euthanasia with humans is illegal in many countries, though sometimes, it really would be helping these people out of this life in a more decent manner than slowly, but surely dying a painful death from a terminal sickness. Thing is, with animals however, we always decide in their stead. Can we be sure we know whether they would have wanted it or not?
Person--LA shelters are kill fest. I know Eldad. I work out here in LOS ANGELES--different beast. They get paid to kill animals and make money off the recycling of bodies. Hence---look at the kitty litter. not really litter.. When and if you have ever RESCUED--this is what you do. There are things you know. Different beast. I have 6 and got 2 tumors removed. I've had 4 18 years olds. When you rescue--you know.

@@gladysjeanherman3845 - I would imagine that (sadly) those dogs were once dumped by their different owners and left to survive in whatever way they could. Gradually, over time and through hunger, they learned it best to hunt in a pack but, unfortunately, they killed a little girl. It’s tragic whichever way you look at it.

It's always a good idea to to shave a long-haired rescue dog like Edie when it's brought in. First, its fur is often tangled and matted and shaving the dog is usually easier for both human and animal than trying to comb the tangles out. Second, clipping or shaving long-haired rescue dogs makes it a lot easier to examine them for injuries and treat them for fleas or ticks or other skin problems -- the chances are very good that any dog which has been living on the street for awhile has fleas.

Workers at shelters don't have time to hug all the animals...that's why I as a regular visitor to the cat and dog shelters, just go in and snuggle them. They need it, but then so do i.

Eldad, a great video that I'll bet we'd all love to see is an update of as many of your pups and their forever homes, ss well as a rundown of all of the ones still waiting for their forever families.
My biggest problem with your videos is that I want to adopt them all. I wish I could give more than the $10 a month that we give now. Maybe when we find a home for ourselves, we'll be able to do that.

Loved this! Of course I cried! I love my 3 and want to do so much for so many more. We rescued a little dog much like this about 3 years ago, and so for about 2 years, we had 4 lovely four-legged family members! lol He was very old with tumors and not expected to live very long. Our love took him two years longer than the vets prognosed!
I thought that I had been desensitized to your videos (I used to cry at almost every one; I don't cry anymore) but this one brought tears to my eyes anyway.

+MIckey F'in Mouse Well, if they'd have a visible tumor that couldn't be treated and it's obvious they're in constant pain, then prolonging their life has nothing to do with love for animals any more. I've seen dog owners who made their pets go through this state of terminal cancer rather than putting them down. That is, in one word, just sad. Sadder than letting these animals die like that.
Of course, one mustn't be quick to judge. You can take life, but you cannot give life just like that. That is why euthanasia with humans is illegal in many countries, though sometimes, it really would be helping these people out of this life in a more decent manner than slowly, but surely dying a painful death from a terminal sickness.
Thing is, with animals however, we always decide in their stead. Can we be sure we know whether they would have wanted it or not?
Person--LA shelters are kill fest. I know Eldad. I work out here in LOS ANGELES--different beast. They get paid to kill animals and make money off the recycling of bodies. Hence---look at the kitty litter. not really litter.. When and if you have ever RESCUED--this is what you do. There are things you know. Different beast. I have 6 and got 2 tumors removed. I've had 4 18 years olds. When you rescue--you know.

TheBlazersfan22 Plus the majority of dogs you'd buy in a store come from puppy mills or breeders who meet USDA regulations- a cage six inches wider than the dog's body all around. A person using scared animals for youtube profit, there is nothing to like about here. He could have very well done this without the cameras. all he wanted was some youtube likes and people to fall for it.
Doc James Burton to fall for what exactly? this guy runs an animal rescue organization...they film and post all of their rescues...if he makes money by posting them, so what? that's what enables them to operate and continue to save at-risk animals...nobody's forcing anyone to donate.
