In Dec 1970 I flew from LAX to Disneyland in their copters. As you know a few months later they were out of business. Very sad both copters failed. RIP brave hearts.
Dad Aunt Peggy Uncle Bob and my A&P instructor Mr Bingo all worked at LAA the Single engine S 62 was a training helicopter And the twin engine for the pax runs, the S 55 was the early machines - Aunt Peggy was the one who handed out the last checks when they closed their doors, A bad damper in the 1st accident, A bad blade spindle in the 2nd , Mr Berlinns grand child used to hop rides and got snagged in the 2nd accident. He shut everything down ,Hughes Air West & Golden West took up the routes and the S 62 went to Catalina Airways,,,

They kept dropping out of the sky like a rock . Think it was Compton then Paramount everyone dead.
I don’t get it how did they keep crashing?
When I was a youngster, I remember seeing the Sikorsky almost daily, flying over Cerritos (aka Dairy Valley) heading to LAX.
As a kid in Fullerton I remember seeing the helicopters take off and land when visiting Disneyland.
I also had seen the copters go back and forth, growing up in Lakewood Ca.
pretty close it was 280 million people inthe year 2000
I guess they didn't count on new tech saving and extending more lives than expected.
I sure hope the future of air taxi service doesn't repeat history when the VTOLs come
