Reggie Workman is the coolest walking bass player along with Richard Davis, that I've ever heard. His bass solo on Ornette Coleman's "Peace" played with Archie Shepp and Bill Dixon even betters the original Charlie Haden part because of his innovative walking bass work. He's not as way out as Scott LaFaro, but perfect for the most avant garde of jazz, too. This is such a fabulous video. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, BassLudeman. It's phenomenal. The Wayne Shorter solo is up there with Coltrane. It's amazing.
I met Mr. Reggie Workman(Bassist) when He was the Musical Director of "The New Muse" on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, New York...1978 Cool Gentleman.(My first exposure to Jazz music workshop)With Ms. Lucy bass instructor.
Wonderful... Thank you for sharing.
