I'm glad you posted this ,I think the content before he resigned was really good exposition of opening principles.

Very short and very instructive : I loved the connection at K18, and I really liked the cap - I'm always afraid to cap with an elephant eye, but as you showed, it's not really a problem, you just have to strengthen both sides and you are fine.

I really liked this short form video! I have a really busy professional life and often don't have as much time/energy as I would like to study Go, but I enjoy having some Go content in my life so that I don't do something dumb like play out a ladder when I inevitably do get back to playing again.

I am 8k and I think the way you handled the invasion at 5:04 is really instructive. Strengthening both your groups and just letting the black group flounder. I always feel like I have to do something to pressure those, especially since I'm always emotionally attached to the big space I had on the left, but I guess you just say, "I'm fine here, are you?" and let them not be fine.

I watch all your videos, I think. A lot of what you call basic, I also consider basic. But there are a few moves that don't feel basic; they feel greedy, and I can tell you've played them enough times (and that you know you play well enough) to be 100% sure you can get away with them. But a DDK definitely could not get away with them. I'm not sure I (a 6-8K depending on how rusty I am; I don't play much Go except vs a 2-Dan level AI) could consistently get away with them.
    ------
You might consider playing out those hypothetical "if he tries to cut me I can just connect" for your DDK viewers. You might also play out "how to respond and/or live locally" when you are pincered -- for example at 2:08, you play Q15. The opponent responds by attaching; but what would you do against a pincer at R12, R13, or maybe even Q12? When DDK games like this are short, it's a perfect opportunity to teach things like this without the video running long. I would be very interested myself, as I do not really know any joseki by heart (except for how to live in a tight corner) and try to operate more on reading/principle instead. Seeing a few "right moves, and here's why they are" would be extremely helpful.
    ------
Keep up the hard work, good sir.

4:19 The enclosin is what I am calling that strange three space knight that some people play from their corner. The forced double nature of the enclosin makes it neither an extension or an enclosure. For, it is to far from the corner to protect it, and to close to the corner to expand from it. Thusly it shall now be known as the enclosin.

5:33, ddk would play something like Q7. Capping there is a little bit advanced. You need to know that top right group OK if black push there, and no territory for a wall there is OK too.

5:40 sooo this might just be my DDK instincts talking, but doesn't O8 create an elephant's eye at P9?
And yeah, he played right into it. O9 would have made more sense to me here. Was there a particular reason O8 was better?

It does and that is okay. White is trying to make the group uncomfortable. If you wanted to fence that stone in directly the kosumi at P9 would be more effective, but the stones at P4 don't have shape yet. You could play O9 or P9 instead as long as you remember the group below needs some love at some point. The thing O8 does is it is able to connect to those stones.

idk if you have made content about it before but have you ever considered making a fun 9x9 vid? it’d be even more epic if you don’t play 9x9’s :)

This was likely the most annoying type I get to play against at these levels.
They just cut and invade everywhere. And as long as I clearly realize it's the wrong direction of play I'm never able to respond correctly. It makes me think fighting over literally everywhere is the most powerful way to play.
Such a waste he resigned so quickly. Could have been the most instructive game for me.

Really liked this video! I'm 5k but sometimes I don't know something intellectually that I know intuitively. And some things I don't know at all I just make up for by having other strengths. So spelling out some real basics is very helpful

Good short demo, you got in most your favorite proverbs!
Early in, the first blue bubble, you mention giving up Q3 whereas I think you meant N3.

also, my coleagues on my local go club tell me i should play faster. but that let me to play more superficially. and if i have time, i usually win them so.. maybe they just dont want to lose. haha You think i should force me to play faster?

I gotta say, thanks for posting this! Even though it was short, you were making really strong moves while explaining the fundamental ideas that made them strong. Stuff like that is very helpful to us DDKs!
