- Israel had reportedly planned a “more extensive counterstrike” on Iran but scaled it back after diplomatic pressure from the US and other allies. The New York Times reported that Israel considered striking multiple military targets in Iran, including near Tehran, in response to the April 13 attack. Such a widespread and damaging attack would have been difficult for Iran to ignore. It would have raised the risk of a strong Iranian retaliation that could have escalated into a major regional conflict in the Middle East
Therefore, President Biden along with the British and German foreign ministers, urged PM Benjamin Netanyahu to prevent a wider war.

Israel has Silver Sparrow air launched ballistic missiles which have the range of 1,500 km to 2,000 km. They are equivalent to Russia's Kinzhal missile, but have maneuverable capability. Launching from over Syrian air space would avoid flight over Jordanian air space thus going over Iraqi air space and then towards Iran.
On the day of the attack, Syria's air defense got obliterated, Iraq's radar got destroyed as well. If Israel hypothetically launched Silver Sparrow from Syria, the missile's range radius covers all of Iran.
