Love it! I'm going to remember this the next time some Christian "friend" tells me depression is a sin. What a refreshing viewpoint!

I've suffered from depression since 1991, so I totally understand what she's talking about. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So glad I found her videos, because it's such a joy to be able to laugh without worrying if the speaker will start talking so nasty I'd have to turn it off. God bless everyone. Please everyone have a wonderful day.

Thank you for posting this. I have struggled with Depression most of my life and it is sad to say that I have to hide it, because I get judged. I have been told that there is not such thing as depression, if I am depressed it is because I am not doing something right. That I should not be on medicne for depression. It is very diffcult to be a christian and have depression, because of this. When you are going threw this, that is when you need your christian family for support.

Your very welcome. Brother Joel Hemhill of the Southern Gospel group The Hemphills was diagnosed with depression in the 80s. This video talks much more about Chonda's experience. You are in my prayers and if you need someone to talk to I am here.

Love Chandra Pierce! God, good therapy, antidepressants, proper hormone therapy, letting go of my anger that was turned inward...all worked to heal me of the depression that was ruling my life. I am now a therapist...my Speciality? Helping people be free from depression! Go figure!

I really loved Chondra speaking out on this subject! I am often amazed at the arrogance of some christians. I am a minister and have been diagnosed with depression. Many I guess in ignorance try to think that God is the answer to everything. This I can agree with. How stupid some are to say "Wait on God", or "it is your lack of faith"??? Do you mean to tell me that I am to live WITHOUT a cochlear implant to assist me in hearing but instead I should "wait on God"?

@ChondaPierce, #ChondaPierce, I love you. I'm still watching your videos.
Anyone, everyone, I have a question at one time there was more like actually being in the institution... how the nurses saw her from t. V. and they yelled out we have Chonda Pierce & how she was like well now everyone knows me here. She talked more about her son when getting her clothes ready.... the part where he boxed up like his sock and his boy shorts & etc. She also had people on stage praying silently in a group during that show. I though this was it or in the 4 min short one. But it's not in either now. Would you happen to know where that one is? Thank you either way!

The arrogance of many Christians judging others who take their prescribed meds for their medical conditions. I love Chondra's ending on deacons who take viagra while these same deacons from on people taking meds for depression. God created meds too so we should freely take our prescribed meds. Thank you Chondra!💗😁🙏

Haha... I love how there's a quick shot of a young lady who is not laughing... she has no idea what she's in for, does she!

@smileyy, Ok if you believe that, then you should not take ANY medicine at all, so if you are sick with at cold, or heart deasese or anything else you should not take medicine. Otherwise you are just a hypicrit. But I believe God has also given us medicine to help us, but if that is the way you believe that is fine, just do not put others down and judge them for doing what they need to do. That is all I have to say about it :)

The good Lord did not put doctors on this earth for decoration. They have a purpose!
That being said, I have always preferred homeopathy, simply because there are less negative side effects than a lot of Western medicine. However, it's not all bad.
I don't know. I guess I just look for a balance in life. So sue me.

How do you know if you have depression? My sister had it once, and she is and was a Christian, but I don't remember what it was like.

@nutmeg794 In the bible God provided food for us. You have to see what foods are anti depression. The medicine in the bible is food. The only healer and doctor is God.

"Clinical depression" is a chemical imbalance. It is physical, not mental. Medicating that condition is no different than medicating any other chemical imbalance (like diabetes). The problem is that the term "depression" conjures up a perception that it is mental. If it was mental, then misgivings about medicating it would have at least some validity. The medical community really needs to develop a different term for it.

+TommygunNG Society just needs to realize that depression is not the same as SADNESS. Whether it is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (which is actually more emotional than physical) or Manic Depressive (which is a chemical imbalance) or Anxiety Disorder (which is extremely physical) none of these diagnoses are the same thing as a neurotypical person getting sad over their favorite show getting canceled. "Depression" covers an array of diagnoses. I don't think the solution is finding another name, it is educating people on what the term actually means.

Mary Humphries It would be enough to better distinguish, using the current terms.

Depression is caused by the belief in a false religion.
