Everyone I have seen and myself have used HDPE welding rod or some of the scrap HDPE from the item for welding HDPE. It works great it it would not make any sense to use MDPE ot LDPE on HDPE. HDPE pipe and HDPE water proof membranes are always welded together with out any low density PE with 100% success.
Did the spin welding of the fitting to the square plate with the power drill work out. Everyone says you need to use a router but the driver is expensive and I just need to do like you did and install a 1 1/2” fitting for the gate valve drain. Can’t justify the cost for a one shot modification. Just wondering if it sealed ok.
That is cool! I didn’t know you could weld plastic 😆. If you get bubbles do you have to weld in more rod or just heat it up again to get rid of them? Adrian
You need to make sure it's 100% dry and most likely heating it back up will seal the bubbles. I din't need to add any more plastic to fix the leaks I had.
if you tilt the tank so that the plastic weld will be at the proper angle to let gravity pull it into the weld area it will work much better.
Cool iam going to try it based on your video

What size were the welding rods you used? 1/8 diameter?

Do you have a link for the hdpe squares? I can’t find them on that vintage trailer site.
I got them on ebay
