This is my beloved 1 D in a nutshell: Harry is refining his skill at falling on stage, Niall makes a dive for the birthday cake and eats some, coz food….Liam starts the crowd off, Zayn is developing confidence singing with that incredible voice, and Louis is busy teasing the crowd as only Louis can! I am so proud of how far they have gone and how talented they are vocally and artistically. G-A-Y brings out the best in performers!!!
I’ve watched this countless times, along with the other videos that are from the same night. I don’t see anything “wrong” or different at all. They all had a good time, Louis had a great time. Their single had just hit #1 in the UK. He had cake put on him. They were performing (and still in their infancy as a group, so it was still quite exciting on a different level than it became after they had been together for years). He had a little to drink and he danced while singing. I don’t see a single issue anyone should have scolded him on. He wasn’t campy. He wasn’t hugely flamboyant. He was HAPPY and I would have been too. He was also the oldest member of 1D and may have more clubbing experience than the younger of the group who were a bit “deer in the headlights” about the situation at one point. He did not need to be scolded. He shouldn’t ever have been forced to change himself into a different, more stoic, more “manly(?)” man, and strangely enough he got an Eleanor out of the “deal”. That is antiquated bullsh*t. I’m glad Harry either a) didn’t give a shit or b) never got called on the carpet by Simon for doing some of the things he did. He would prance around on the stage. He proudly would wear the rainbow flag as a cape etc. Also, if Simon and Syco/Modest! got mad at Louis for this - they certainly allowed 1Ds shows to become quite racy at times while they were performing on stage to an audience of prepubescent teenage girls. “Mom, why is Harry grabbing his crotch?” Etc. I find it sexy, but speaking as a mother of six - 3 boys and 3 girls, I have had to explain those things before to them (of course) It’s a family show....or IS IT??? 😉 I’m pro Louis. I feel Simon had given and also had taken away. He launched their careers, but puppeted them for much of it. I see why they all had to get out and call it quits. They were and are all excellent musicians in their own rights. They have rights to make the kind of music they want and to act however they want. Alas, no one forced them to try out for XFactor. My two cents. 😍 but I’m a Directioner and a Larry shipper and I do truly pray they are able to get together now, if that is what they both still want. Shave the beard, lol!
