I just have a question (two, actually): - Would you be dancing like that with someone you just met? Suppose, it's a 'Yes', then how would you actually 'lead' all that? I admire the hard work and artistry that is being put into popularizing this style of dance, but where do we draw the line between 'leadable' and 'choreographed', especially when danced at a social?
My answer is yes, because every single move they did, was built on his lead, that’s why in the dance you have the Leader and the Follower. These two are the gods of bachata, they are passionate, in love, married and professional, so no one can dance the way they dance Bachata!! In addition, this dance is social, not a choreography. There are big differences between social and show dances, you can check some shows for these amazing couple and you will understand what I mean:) Sorry for the long comment:)
@@eliob.9580 Thanks for the through reply. So, by 'yes' you mean you would dance THAT close with someone you have JUST met even when most of the stuff is leadable? And I point out 'most', because there are choreographed piece in this video, in which both of them knew what to do. I don't know the circumstances to what they were demonstrating, but the two matching pieces are at 1:04 and 2:51. I agree with you. They are a great couple, looking very connected together. The issue I am facing on the dance floor is when I dance with someone for the first time, they would like to move (and probably feel) like Desirée... all on their own.
My dear, yes, and I have danced that close with girls ,But not with that intimacy, I’ve just met, some of them were okay with that because it was just a dance, some of them were not! it depends on both sides, the guy should get closer JUST because the dance requires that and not to touch his partner( you know what I mean), and the girl can decide either to let you get close or not! I really understand your situation, the problem is with the girls, there are a bunch of them who think they are even better than Desiree, and start waving, head rolling and getting down without any lead, so we should accept the fact of meeting such dancers on the dance floor. And just one last thing, this dance is not just a normal social dance, it’s the usual dance after any workshop or master class, so the two matching pieces you mentioned, they were the moves which Daniel and Desiree taught the audience. Anyway, I don’t know if you have attended any bachata workshop or festival, but just to let you know, the steps are : explain the move’s details, techniques and style, the audience try it, the dancers let us make a video with counts and some explanation, then they do the last step which is dancing on music, so they show us how to include such move in any dance.
