As always - very good and interesting review, Ginny! The offered guarantee is worth mentioning, as is the impressive storage space. But I really have to support your opinion in terms of interior design - what a shame. Fortunately I'm in other vehicle classes and have no need for this type of cars :)
Taxi I called last week was a hybrid version of one of these. From the perspective of the rear seats, I can’t say I rate the interior. The plastic on the doors is some of the thinnest I’ve ever seen, and the seats felt very flat and were covered in an almost velour-like fabric that I doubt is very durable. On the plus side, it went like stink and was a quite refined. Plus the guy driving it couldn’t have been more than about 22 and was independent, so I’d guess the finance deals are pretty good. Not a bad car at all, just not very inspiring!
hello there may i make a complaint plz when yr looking in the boot why not have a light on so we can see what yr looking at most times im looking into the abyiss plz do this make me a happy bunny lol ty xx
Dimitris Kepenos Nope. It's disgusting how all British reviewers always favour European rivals yet the Japanese cars are much more reliable and better value.
Because European cars are better. Before you come back with some nonsense, research why Suzuki and Toyota are now in partnership for R&D. Toyota have admitted they lag behind the Euro cars in terms of innovation and general performance. Japanese cars aren't that good value, the Yenn to GBP isn't favourable, they are cheaply built, use very dated engines (honda are still using a 12 year old 1.4 design in their civic) and simply aren't as refined as the like of Volkswagens or Fords.
This years model is simply full of bad taste and design decisions. The last Corolla before they renamed it to Auris in some regions had a more stylish and streamlined interior than this version. It's not because they are from Japan, for example the current Mazda 3 is light-years ahead in look and feel.
A 12 year old Civic will still be going for another decade, still see lots of 2003-2006 Civics and Corollas on the road. Cant say the same for Focus, Golf, Astra, they'll also need more repairs. A 2007 Honda Accord CDTI is still more refined than current tractor sounding EU diesel engines.
Have Toyota acknowledged or corrected the headlight issue on the Auris. Driving at night on unlit roads in the Auris is just dangerous. If you are going to buy one test drive the car at night.

The GT86 and Aygo look good but the rest of the range is truly ugly looking, great reliability but really need what Hyundai did with the I20 and someone in who can do a better design job.
I was such a big Toyota enthusiast in the '90s and '00s but design was better then and while a little bit boring also clean and timeless. The new interior is a joke, it is ugly and stuck in the past. I can't believe they still use that digital clock!

Yep, real weird naming.
Ruben Jennings The Auris is the Corolla hatch. So the Auris Estate would be the Corolla Estate or Wagon.

So the only faults she can find are things like the clock is out of her eye line. Give me a Toyota over her 'fashionable' Golf any day of the week.
Weird! I had that exact infotainment in my 2012 yaris; the 2018 auris has a newer infotainment setup
