The extra tank is a 19 cu ft pony bottle with its own regulator. Redundant gear in case of an equipment failure on my main cylinder. Not intended to extend a dive once my air is low in the main tank.
Wes, glad to see you back up and diving again after your accident. Thanks for some great video, and I particularly appreciate your comments, letting us know what's happening and what you're thinking. How long have you been using the Ocean Guardian? Thoughts on it? What brand/model is your lion fish gig? I've seen several on videos that don't appear to hold fish well, and you seem to have good luck with yours.
It has been great to get out there! Also went last Saturday and will be going again this Saturday! I've been using the Shark Shield for probably about 6 years now. This is my second one as my original one stopped holding a charge. It was out of warranty, but they sold me a new one for ½ price! I love it! Once I post some footage from this last trip, you'll see how sharks usually react to it! They don't like it!!! Every now and then you get a stubborn one that tries to push through it, but that has been rare for me. My lionfish pole spear is a very basic one made by A-Plus Marine. www.aplusmarine.com/25-x-12-pole-spear-with-stainless-steel-paralyzer_p_20.html. They used to have a small barb on all 3 of the tips, which works better. The last one I bought only has a barb on 1 of the 3 tips.
That’s a good question! I’ve been diving coops for about 10 years now. They definitely break down, deteriorate and collapse. But, I really can’t say how long that takes. I’d guess maybe up to 20 years. I’ve seen some pretty broken down ones still providing a good home and shelter to lots of fish.
Would love to see a video on your dive gear also. I notice you dive with a spare tank.

Looking forward to it. Maybe shark shield will be a Christmas present?😊
Can you do a video on your dive gear set up?
I'll work on doing that sometime soon! Have you seen my video on making a Lionfish Container like I use? th-cam.com/video/YekuWsd3EWw/w-d-xo.html
