  • Although sad to see Namtib in our dust; we were absolutely stoked for our adventure ahead! We would be using a campsite called Sossus Oasis, in the town of Sesriem as our base for exploring the Sossusvlei. We wanted an early start to the day so we could see the Deadvlei with spectacular light! Our 30km drive in was mind blowing, sandwiched between the massive red dunes of the Namib desert on either side of us! Eventually we rad out of Tar and engaged 4 wheel drive instead to tackle the thick sand as we made our way to the Deadvlei. As one of Namibias top tourist destinations, the Deadvlei did not disappoint! Onwards to Sossusvlei we would go, for a nice breakfast in the dunes! We would wrap up our time at Sossusvlei with an epic drive through the thick sand before heading back to camp to chill out until the afternoon, where we would head to the Sesriem Canyon, a special little walk through the canyon would end up concluding our time in Sesriem!

    Leka video. Thanks. I was there in Dec last year with my Everest and walked up Dune 45, Big Daddy dune at Dead Vlei, nice sand riding to Sossusvlei and also hiked several kms into the Sesriem Canyon - a few weeks before it flooded.

    Epic journey. I TRUST U SHUD HAVE INCLUDED SANDWICH HARBOUR ON YR ITINERARY. THE MAJESTIC SANDWICH HARBOUR IS SITUATED 50KM WEST OF Walvis Bay. Its where the mountains of sand meets the sea in perpetually. Its the toughest competitor to Deadvlei. Infact after visiting Sandwich harbour u will tick it as the best natural wonder on West Coast of Namibia. I never went there but I see from tourists.

    Amazing. Planning on going to Sossusvlei end of the year. That last sandy stretch, dis you do that in low range? Apparently the sand is very soft there?

    • @RoamOverlanding

      The sand was super soft; I think I was in low range indeed.

    Hey Adrian, cool video. Namibia looks epic. Me and my Girlfriend and sitting watching the video and debating whether you are English or Afrikaans. I say English, she says Afrikaans. Would you be able to enlighten us? Thanks man

      hahah hey Anthony! I am english but having some afrikaans friends and family; so there is a slight influence from them.

  • @sanjosamuel2859
    @sanjosamuel2859 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Amazing footage. Thanks for sharing ! Can't wait to visit Namibia. Do you think this can be done in a high clearance 4x2 bakkie / SUV ? Or is 4x4 an absolute necessity?

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On that particular section you will get a $500 fine for not having a 4x4; so you can park at the reception area and take a 4x4 shuttle to the Deadvlei/Sossusvlei. There were some very thick sand sections; and its frighteningly hot once the sun is up; so I wouldnt want to get stuck in the sand after its been baking in the sun all day :P

      Thanks Willem! Its going awesomely! It has been handling everything really well so far, I am very impressed. Especially when I come home and unload the vehicle; it drives so nicely around town everyday; but can still handle being loaded and worked hard on a trip like this!

    I think the problem was not the tires, there's a little hole in the velg so the air can go out slowly.

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it was in the tire pressure monitor on that wheel; it must have been damaged somehow.
