Fun Fact: Harmony Gold was the first company to get the rights to make the English dub for Dragonball back in the late 1980s, in which they changed almost every character's name; Goku was Zero, Bulma was Lena, Krillin was Bongo, Oolong was Mao Mao, and so on (the only characters who kept their original names were Master Roshi, Chiaotzu, and Mercenary Tao). Whiskers the Wonder Cat is what they named Korin. Harmony Gold was infamous for changing names and even entire plots, and are famously the company at fault for frankensteining Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada together into the Robotech series.

Of all the names to not change, Chiaotzu seems like a very peculiar one to keep the same, given how non-English it is compared to so many other character names.

And he wouldn't have to wait until they finish Dragon Ball Z abridged you can totally what's dragon ball without interfering with the reaction, if anything it enhances it
A lot of piccolos abilities mostly seen in movies during Z+ but make a rare appearance in the show first appeared in Dragon Ball.
Demon Hands, the stretching arms in this one, has only been seen in Z and Super movies, starting in Tree of Might, Lord Slug also did it, so not technically a canon appearance of them until Super, similar to Krillian and the kienzon
@@deanc6664 Krillin used the kienzan against Nappa way before he ever used it in any of the movies. The only movie I remember him even using it in with Tree of Might but I can think of at least four times off the top of my head who used it in the series. Three if we don't count super
@@noremac7216 Used in the Saiyan saga and once against Freeza after that it was only ever used during movies and filler. The reason I put it there was to bring more attention to the fact that the writers just forget about abilities and make characters look stupid for not using them when they perhaps should. There were many opportunities for it on Namek. The list is many with things only used once, used only in movies, once in canon and mostly movies, or filler only, and many things get forgotten about completely.
Yeah, Cooler's voice actor from this movie actually does official voice acting these days!

Piccolo has a lot of weird powers that are mostly unseen in DBZ. You see them more in his father and him on Dragon Ball, and some make a comeback on DBS. Like him turning giant.
Giant, clones, arms, regeneration of arms. Those are the few I remember. Some barely from like tournaments he was in.
Turning Giant just makes you bigger target, and you'd be less able to defend your with your energy as it would have to spread around larger volume. Shrinking would actually be probably better, you'd be harder to hit, increase your power efficiency and speed.
Turning giant is how King Piccolo, Lord Slug lost and I think even Piccolo Jr lost the tournament becasue of it but it's been several years since I've watched Dragon Ball, so I don't remember for sure.
No king did not do that but Beelzebub did grow, and Goku got Kami back that way.

5:58 there are some scenes of DBZ that Kakarot does not do justice, watered down some iconic moments with "press A to continue" dialogue boxes, but he is right the entire story is there and plus some extras that answer plot holes in the form of side quests.

There was a lot of focus on the VA for Cooler being recognized through other official voice acting stuff.
I think it's also interesting that starting with abridging on youtube and forming TFS, the three main members have voice acted in Dragon Ball Z, Resurrection F
They went on Hiatus during the creation of Season 3 to work on voice acting in the dub of Hell(S)
They've done voice acting for various games. Kaiserneko has voice acted in Borderlands 3, Freedom Planet 2, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2, Smite
And other shows and anime including, RWBY, Danganronpa 3, Fate/Cero, One Piece
Though I don't think they've had any lead roles, it's still impressive seeing where they started.
Personally I'd love a reaction to OG db and kai if you guys were up for it but it's definitely understandable if you dont want to go through something like 300 episode on your channel plus the absolute time sink it is. Though tye problem with Kakarot is that it cuts some stuff far too short or outright cuts really cool moments.
Edit: Db is 153 episodes and dbz kai is 167(Cut down from 270 something from dbz) and dbs is about 123 episodes. So yeah a hell of a lot of time.
They have expressed interest in OG DB since I believe Ruff and Erik didn't watch it. Boom has expressed interest in actually watching OG DB as well and the actual story of DBZ, but Idk if he's gonna do Z on his own channel or not.

Unfortunately, Cooler is not canon. Could change in the future, but not currently.

The otherworld tournament is some of my favorite episodes of the series, but I'm not screaming that it exists within continuity. If you like him, then like him. I'm not stopping you. I'm just saying Gohan grew out of the bowl cut before Goku made it back from Yardrat.

Fun fact about the Whiskers the Wonder Cat thing: It's a nod to one of the dubs where Korin mentions all the names he's been called, with his favorite being Whiskers the Wonder Cat.
Also, yeah, Piccolo can do the arm stretching thing way back from Dragon Ball days. Problem is, Toriyama keeps forgetting on 'em, which is what Piccolo is talking about when he says he "forgets about 'em sometimes, too."
couple of the voice actors of tfs did voices for dragon ball Xenoverse 1 and 2. there is a male voice option that sounds like nappa. they also did a TFS plays xenoverse

Piccolo has always been able to do the arm thing. Problem is he only really used it in DragonBall. I honestly can't think of a single time outside the movies that he did it again in DBZ, though it comes back in Super. Like he said, he basically just forgot he could do that. But really, all Namekians can. It's just not very useful so he doesn't do it much.

The, "I forget about them sometimes, too," is basically a reference to him only using that technique in movies. But it is canon he can do that.
Only reference I can remember is in Lord Slug, Piccolo says, "really.... should've... stretched... my arm," when he gives Goku the energy to win.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But I think Boom is right on not seeing stretchy arms. If we did, it was movie.
Yeah. We have only seen him do it in OG Dragonball, but he never did it in Z. Same goes for growing. He even straight up says in Super: Super Hero that he forgot he can do that.

Cooler was introduced in his movie "Cooler's Revenge" which was an original story not present in the original manga. So he's a "filler only" character, strictly speaking.
Piccolo's arm stretching ability has actually appeared for the first time in the original series, he stretched out his arm across the ring in the tournament to grab Krillin.
And another fun fact: They did get it right that Cooler's VA here is also Ais from Overlord abriged but he also plays Dr. Gero from the regular DBZA episodes, although they haven't gotten to that part yet so... spoiler???? though the voice is different enough that you wouldn't really notice.
Just one thing, there's this special called Celloween: A Flight out of Cell. You guys need to watch that before episode 45 in order to get a certain joke.
The line about "Go Toriyama, and teach a dinosaur to ride a ball." Is a reference to the japanese lyrics of the theme song Cha-La Head-Cha-La, which contains lines about teaching a dinosaur to ride a ball. A similar reference was made with 16 when he spoke to the bird. "What's your name?...Toriyama?...I'd love to see your dinosaur...It does WHAT?"
That of Toriyama teaching a dinosaur to ride a bull, is something of the original japanese lyrics of the opening Head Chala. Also, Toriyama means mountain bird in japanese.
There was a whole episode of Dragon Ball Z where goku and frieza stare each other down while they REMEMBER scenes from the fight they had

I'm not sure exactly why, but just about every time Icarus shows up anywhere in DBZA, he gets brutally murderized one way or another.

Chris Guerrero is such a god of a VA. He was Dr. Gero and Cooler for TFS, then Ainz Ooal Gown (main character) in Overlord.
Fun little fact, cooler is actually made mention of in the resurrection F saga in dragon Ball super because they were going to bring back cooler and King cold as well as Frieza
I have watched DBZA countless times, and I never noticed that was Ainz’s voice😅
DBZ Kakarot, or the anime DBZ Kai works too. The latter takes out a majority of the filler content of the original DBZ anime, and the dub gives a more accurate translation to the source material

I think Dressrosa in the One Piece anime might actually be worst when it comes to pacing lmao. And DBZ Kakarot is a good option to experience the story but it does skip some moments like Vegeta's Final Flash and of course it doesn't cover og DB

Well holy shit. I have never watched a reaction where someone recognized Chris's voice. You even knew that he is voicing the audiobook run of overlord. Was not expecting to find another overlord enjoyer when i clicked on this.
I enjoyed Overlord up until Season 2, where everything was way too much about incomprehensible politics lol

When Cooler first transforms and puts up his mask, he says, “Tonight, I dine on monkey soup.” This is a Ninja Turtles reference where Shredder says this about the Turtles. Cooler even resembles Shredder a little, especially Super Shredder.

Then maybe watch some highlights from the anime, like some of the fights from the early tournaments, and from the Z arcs

Interestingly, another online series has a VA that is in a main series. Barbara Dunkleman, who plays Yang in Rooster Teeth's RWBY, is the VA for Cosmos in Fairy Tail also. She had never done VA work before doing RWBY but was able to get a role in that well-known series.

so i ran the numbers in the dbz portion of the series it averages 1.28 chapters an episode while one piece averages 1.06 only counting canon episodes for all but tbf one piece chapters are usually more dialogue dense so probably a closer pacing. for funsies naruto and shippuuden average 1.64 chapters and episode and bleach averages 2.36 and dbz kai averages 1.97
6:00 I wouldn't recomend that, the game is glorious during Saiyan and Freeza saga, but after that there are some important scenes left out of it, and others that aren't that well portrayed, I won't say which for the sake of spoilers, but

In kakarot the final flash scene didn't even happen, not to mention super trunks, and that one scene were super buu wanted to blew up Gohan is disapointing, they do Vegito really well though, that's true
I like how people keep saying "They leeave important stff out" and their go to example is always "Vegeta did an attack that didn't work once". Yeah no, the final Flash scene simply isn't important. There are a few scenes that would have been cool to see but they didn't leave anything important out. Just a few scenes that could have been cool but aren't a big deal.
@@EskChan19 super trunks is literally core to the subplot of the ssj evolution arc that has been happening for the whole saga, which ends with Goku and Gohan figuring out the perfect ssj, not consuming stamina, and then the awakening of ssj2
