The guitar solo at the end is taken straight from the song "She's a Star" by a British band called James. They didn't really mind so no legal action was taken.
Not many people know that this is a cover of song by a female-fronted Alternative Rock band called Ednaswap and the original is a heavy Nirvana-ish song. I always got a laugh out of the fact that when they were asked what they thought about the fact that everybody thought this was a Natalie Imbruglia pop song and nobody knew their original version they just said that all those royalty checks from it being a worldwide hit sure helped them deal with any negative feelings they may have had.
I met Anne and the rest of Ednaswap in LA after they played a show. My buddy was the promoter and we got to hang out with them in the green room after and the Natalie Imbruglia version had been out for a few months and it was on every station in LA at the time as I’m sure it was all over the world. Someone that was in the green room said something to that effect like are they upset that the pop remake is killing the charts and Anne said that they aren’t mad at all lol.
This is in my top 3 favourite songs of all time! A timeless classic

You should check out the original version by Ednaswap. Anne,who is the singer had a amazing voice and the original version starts off slow and then a guitar comes in with drums and bass.
I remember when this came out. Natalie Imbruglia was already a bit of a crush for me from the Aussie soap opera 'Neighbours' then she followed fellow show cast member Kylie Minogue and went into music. Great song (a cover), great production (the 90's British Indie/Alt vibe to it really enhances the track) great lyrics and vocals and an excellent video. Not many pop songs better than this one.

Arc Vision, you are very thoughtful in the way you articulate life's situations. You said "Usually we chose the illusion not the person". I sure can relate to that statement. After one marriage lasting 7 years and the next one 13, it took my going through all the "illusion" (dream of happy ever after) to learn so much about myself. Now being on my own "not attached or married" for many years, I no longer feel "Torn" and am very comfortable with who I am and where I'm going. I grew to become a "strong Pisces" and instead of being so "Torn" vulnerable and too sensitive, I found my boundaries. By the way "Torn" is one of my favorites songs, in case you haven't noticed by now.😎

She’s definitely one of my favorite artists of all time. I actually find her discography to be criminally underrated. Love other tracks like “Smoke,” “Big Mistake,” “Wrong Impression,” “Beauty on the Fire,” “Shiver,” “Want,” and “Build It Better.” And so many more.
