    Great video. Lovely back story. Mick would be happy someone is spending time and effort on his former home and giving it new life for such a lovely couple.

    Green is a lovely colour and with a bit of Red it really pops,sign writer is a great idea and I think it would look spectacular with hand painted flowers and like vines ( not too many, just the front and back) I think if you had used black sikoflex on the window frames that would probably be better but a small black border on the Green would look great.
    It’s lovely seeing a young couple wanting to enjoy their lives together on such a venture and adventure,it’s lovely that the pair of you are so happy and always smiling.
    I’m sure Mick will be looking down and extremely proud of what you have done so far and of your visions for his old Boat,he’ll probably be keeping a close eye on you two and helping out with things along the way.
    Great videos by the way ❤

    Painting a boat (the '5 gallon overhaul') is the single 'easiest' thing you can do to spruce it up. Not only does it make a huge difference, but you get to partake in the joys of sanding! At least you are not having to replace/repair damaged wood, requiring a whole new skill set, and then you get to sand some more.
    I really like the colours and the care you are taking in applying them. You are going to end up with a lovely home.

    • @DriftwoodFolk
      @DriftwoodFolk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right, it makes a HUGE difference! I will not be in any rush to do it again though 😂 I don’t want to even see another sander for at least a year

    I've watched every episode of your journey renovating this boat, and will continue to watch you both complete it. You're both doing a fantastic job and all your hard work will pay off.
    I'm planning to live on a narrow boat in a few years for at least a couple of years to explore the canals of the UK (I might end up living on it permanently).
    I follow a few Narrowboat vloggers and love watching you all.. I look forward to when you've finished renovating and start enjoying living and exploring on it.
    All the best!!

    When you tip off you need a really good quality paintbrush and it should NOT be loaded with paint. Do it right and and you'll achieve a mirror finish

    I am so happy for you two! Even knowing that you have so much more left to do, it must feel great to have everything come together to make the boat look so fantastic, already. I'm aware that the interior is going to present its own challenges, but if it does begin to get overwhelming from time to time, now you can step outside and reassure yourselves that all your hard work has and will continue to pay off. Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

    • @DriftwoodFolk
      @DriftwoodFolk  ปีที่แล้ว

    Try blue masking tape it's so much better, you'll never go back to yellow.

    • @DriftwoodFolk
      @DriftwoodFolk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh we’ll check it out! Never seen blue before

    • @stevecam724
      @stevecam724 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not advertising here but I wish I'd know how good the blue tape was before I'd used yellow (yellow has a very short use time before the adhesive separates).

    Keep bashing away. You will get there. There's alot involved renovating an old boat. More than most realise. You just got keep at it. Don't get on a downer with things at times. I gone thru similar stuff restoring classic cars. You can sit there at times wondering what the hell am I doing this for . Lol

    @sheilajoseph9953 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @DriftwoodFolk

    Even though the windows are double glazed the frames are not, you will probably still get condensation on the frames, keep an eye on it, it can stain your wood surround the windows. You are doing good, be patient!!

    Can I just ask whereabouts you had your boat whilst you painted it? We need somewhere to keep ours and are based in the Midlands

    • @DriftwoodFolk
      @DriftwoodFolk  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't share online where specifically the boat is for safety reasons but if you call around marinas and boat yards you'll find places to keep it! Some have tunnels like this one to paint your boat in. Ours was a bit pricy to be honest but I heard there's others that are half the price :)
