Railroad Crossing: County Road 100 South Near Anderson, IN., CSX Main Tracks 1&2

- This crossing just outside of Anderson, Indiana's Eastern limits is where Couty Road 100 South intersects with what used to be State Road 67. The highway was downgraded to a county road, and the number was retained, County Road 67.
This crossing includes pre-empted traffic signals that only show a green arrow to clear the tracks. Also, you notice a change take place with the traffic signals. In the first clip they flash yellow for one direction. They have since changed them to flash red in all directions.

mE AND MY4 YR OLD SON ENJOYED WATCHIN YOUR VIDEOS OVER & OVER. hE WAS OBSESSED WITH TRAINS. HE KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM AND IT WAS ALL HE TALKED ABOUT. HE HAD OUR TH-cam ON HIS IPOD AND COULD ACCESS TRAIN VIDEOS ANY TIME HE WISHED. hE PASSED AWAY FROM BELIEVED HEART FAILURE AND FLEW TO HEAVEN TO BE GODS NEW TRAIN CONDUCTOR JUST TWO WEEKS AGO. I FIND SOLACE WATCHING THE TRAIN VIDEOS HE ADORED SO MUCH. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY PRECIOUS SONS LIFE SO HAPPY
I typeset the old HOMES Magazine for Anderson 30 years ago, which was published in NC, where I'm from. Anderson had that "Anytown, USA" look and feel about it. Nice to see what the town really looks like. Keep up the good work on your videos. They are by far the best out there, and I've watched many.
Oh my! I am so sorry for your loss! It's so flattering to hear your words and I'm honored I could contribute to any amount of happiness he could get. Bless you!
i grew up in anderson and my son is obsessed with train videos here and i cam across ur videos...awesome! bring back memories! :) thanks for sharing!
I lived in the house in the background when I was a young boy. Pretty cool to see it on youtube!
@llokuta. I had to do a little research. There is no law or any known type of regulation. I misunderstood. Agencies such as INDOT appear to be making internal decisions to eliminate yellow flash, likely for safety and liability reasons.
Sorry about the misinformation. I'm glad you asked! I would have continued on believing I was right. Just ask my wife. :)
@123chinch456... And this crossing, turns out in my opinion, is one of the worst I've witnessed for going around the gates. I had about twice as many videos here, but only what you see made the cutting room floor. There are non-stop violations, not only of the crossing, but the traffic lights.
I may return here and other places and "cover" the issue a little deeper. Maybe I'll even get local law enforcment involved.
I am loving tnis little town
Those have to be the slowest lowering gates I've ever seen in my life.....
llokuta they're probably old
Ya know I just now noticed in the third clip, there’s an SD80MAC! Awesome how you got that before it was sent to Norfolk Southern.
Sweet video!
@wisecrac99 Eliminating yellow flash could be a good idea, because it may cause confusion for motorists stopping for the flashing red (for instance, they approach the crossing, but want to turn left or right on to the parallel road), as they may expect the cross traffic to stop too. However, an alternate solution to this is to place a neon sign that reads "Cross traffic does not stop" when the lights are in rail preemption mode. The sign would be blank if no train is present.
Great video
Looks like the gate crasher at :49 has made that kind of crossing before. :20 seconds is enough until a train happens by from the other direction-(if there are 2 sets of tracks).
There must be some oddball interestions in Anderson.
Never ever seen a R/R capable semi cab before.
Was that a High-Raul Trucking pulling a Flatbed with another one chasing it
Yep!
@GrnArrow092, I don't believe there are laws about it. I think the railroad self regulates and decides where they use them. I really didn't realize how many crossing in my area are bell-less. Most crossings through the heart of the city have them, and I'll be posting more as time allows. Most of the crossings I have posted so far are outside the city limits of my area, Anderson,IN.
But really, you'd think if nothing else, put bells at every crossing for vehicles like school buses and gas trucks.
I love this crossing. When did the traffic lights and gates come? Yes, I am an addict to this video.
Haydn Haycocks The gates have been here as far back as I can remember and I'm currently 43. The traffic lights if I recall correctly were first installed in the 90's.
I liked filming this location. It was fun and relaxing being in a fairly remote area.
Thanks for watching, Haydn!
Haydn Haycocks The scanner picks up the defect detector that is near the CR 500 East crossing, about 1.5 miles away. It was in fact detecting one of those trains.
You may already have watched it, but in one of my videos, South Pendleton Avenue in Pendleton, IN., the defect detector is right next to the crossing. I was there when it detected a defect and have it on the video.
Scanners are a great tool to help locate trains but quality is everything. A mobile scanner is nice when traveling but has limited range. Often by the time you hear the crackle of a train it is right on top of you.
Base scanners have great range but can tie you down at home.
I appreciate the kind words. Stay tuned, more videos are coming... Lots more.

This is quite interesting-cro ssing arms with no warning bells.
0:52 I cannot believe that a car went around the gate

3:57 What's Wrong With The Horn?
Is this law change nationwide, or just in Indiana? What does the new law actually say?
@amymichelle1111, that's coolest comment I've ever received. Thank you! There will be more as soon as I fix my computer issues. :)
Terry, is there a reason why that none of the crossings featured here have bells? Isn't there a law that requires them?
@FlyBikes089, thanks!
What kind of gates are those?
another FANTASTIC example of why people die at crossings
1:40-1:50 sloppy engineering. Preemption should allow for a "minimum green" time. The light should not have turned green for County Road 67 in the first place, since it changed back so quickly.
Where is a police officer when you need them.
👍
5:26 - This video must be a few years old. You can tell by how low gas prices are on the sign ($2.75).
