The Garleans have an interesting history. They live in the north because they were driven there, literally to a place nobody wanted. Then along comes Solus (Emet) and suddenly they learn magitek, which made them powerful enough to fight back. Sadly, it also made them become the same kind of tyrants who drove them north. Because of their history, they're taught from birth not to trust ANY outsiders. It's hard to reach people's inner ability to trust when they've been taught to put up walls even before they can fully speak. That's why I admire Jullus. It wasn't any easier for him to learn to trust, but he did, and all because he realizes that Garlemald will die without help. They can't do it alone, and I'm glad it was Jullus who finally got through to Mettius.
I absolutely love Jullus' character development! In some ways he reminds me of Alphinaud a bit. I think with more time, experience and maturing, Jullus would make a great leader for the Garleans. For now just starting out I think he's a great inspiration for them and has been good as a diplomatic representative for the Garleans as we see him work with the Scions, Lucia, and Vtra.
