You present your videos really well and it’s evident that you have a great amount of passion and knowledge for these cars, which is great for a Freelander 2 owner like myself who wants to learn more about these cars! Well done!
Only just seen this. It was a real bargain. The service history was excellent and the expensive 10 year items (timing belt, water pump etc) items had been done. I had exactly the same model (Freelander 2 TD4 XS) in silver with the optional Alcantara seats. The alcantara and napoli leather seats were excellent - they had electric adjustment, manual lumber support and no arm rests. I had mine from new for 10 years and did 205,000km. No serious issues. Did notice that the copart car had a second battery earth (to starter motor) which was not standard on this model at the time. It would have been supplied with a matching spare wheel. I don't agree that running with worn tyres on front or back (ie different diameter front/back) causes Haldex 'wind up'. The haldex is a clutch which is normally disengaged, only when the computer senses the need, does the Haldex clutch lock the rear prop shaft. A slight difference in tyre diameter might cause a bit of slip between the haldex plates but would not normally cause the computer to tell the Haldex clutch to lock.
We went on a Land Rover Experience day at Eastnor Castle with all the staff a couple of years ago and drove all the cars off road... and the Freelander 2 was not the best but by far was the one that surprised everyone with how capable it was.. at the end of the day we were all talking about the Freelander 2 !

great deal! we have same car same colour! very reliable and safe.. loads of fun for last 4 years. way better than problematic freelander 1 that was a DOG!
I just had to replace the battery on my LR 2 2011 it started leaking and I test charged it first and it would not register or hold a charge and must of had a hair line crack in the bottom of it due to age. Have to keep an eye on the coolant. It has no leak and I only usually use it locally with no weight in. I wonder if that is normal with these vehicles? I mean check the coolant level every few weeks? It was a right pain in the ass removing the battery.. The long battery retaining bolt will not just lift off and come away from the area as it is attached the the lower retainer. I had to jiggle it towards the windscreen and pull the battery over towards the N/S and then tuck the positive lead wedged between two rubber surrounds and if that wasn't enough I used string to hold the negative terminal away from the battery by tying it to the N/S bonnet hydraulic. It helps when you life the battery out and away which is another Circus act in itself.. Ah 11:07 I had exactly the same problem with the replacement battery being slightly shorter in length than the battery already removed from the vehicle and try as I might it will not hold still with the retaining clamp and bolt tightened up. I was either going to return the battery for a more expensive same size one as it was a Leon or find a suitable size rubber or wooden block to take up the excess space crazy job to have to be seen to. That long retaining bolt and clamp has to be removed out of the way to get the batteries changed over and is best replaced after the new battery fitted. To help me locate the right place to try to start to do up the long retaining bolt after the replacement battery was in I made two small cuts on the adjacent rubber surround right where the bolt stood so it helped me line up the bolt and clamp again but it still will not stop the battery from sliding, well on mine it didn't anyway. I think it is designed so only a Land Rover battery or equivalent is used? One thing I was extremely pleased about was that I had replaced a lot of my tools from the late 80s early 90s with smaller more delicate ones like you are using because they were perfect for the job. For example my old 13mm socket and new one , the new one is so much smaller but still gets the jobs done. As does the ratchet and extension. Almost need a degree just to fit a battery these days. I found it helps make a good connection with battery terminals and leads to apply slight pressure downwards when tightening the clamp bolts. I found out years ago while still learning that there are at least 3 levels of bolt and nut tightening. 1: Tight. 2: Fecking tight and 3: Oh feck it broke/snapped. TD4 is the strongest manual box and SD4 is the strongest auto box. I was lucky I don't like the compressor and puncture repair idea as it goes out of date so I got a spare wheel and tyre off eBay. Wheels almost match too. Could be worse.
you are the greatest car mechanic on youtube.but could you please go into more detail of how to replace a car battery.I bought a car recently and previous owner told me that one wheel has a slow puncture.Well the wheel is completely flat now. I have kicked the wheel several times, also I find myself shaking my head and tutting at the wheel but nothing seems to work .Any ideas?
You mentioning the wrong fuel tool reminded me of my shortest ever job. Back in the early 80's I got a job filling cars at a local petrol station & on what was to be my first & final day of work there a chap comes in with a "Fill her up" Land Rover so I did, with petrol, on reaching the till he did a U-turn & came running out to pitch a fit at my stupidity, Now I think back I realise yeah that was pretty stupid but not half as bad as he looked waving his arms around shouting curses & stamping his feet on the ground.
