Never having worked on the buses this was an eye-opener. I assumed you signed in and drove away. What a palace as a canteen! A garage was to store and repair buses and no more. It was nice to see your face to go with the voice. Really enjoyable.
The canteen looks like a palace compared to my days, but I surely would miss the old canteen staff, they were wonderful and made great food with friendliness and great efficiency...
In my 39 years of various tfl companies included in my time, I think Ponders End was my favourite because parking my car for work in the streets and the canteen in the garage were big bonuses.
I hope the ordinary passengers that watch your videos see the difference and more relaxed it is when things run on time, if people were more time conscious we’d all be able to get to our destinations on time or reasonably 🤣
Its an industry that refuses to look after it’s staff. Same goes for everything BUT it’s a job and a damn good one at that just managers need to leave well alone. I still need to get your book Peter on Eastern Counties
Indeed. Which book, I've done two, one by myself and one jointly with Tim Moore www.amazon.co.uk/EASTERN-COUNTIES-National-First-Group/dp/095700589X www.amberley-books.com/eastern-counties.html
Thanks Peter. Very informative as ever and we got a chance to see what you look like. Can I ask…the warning lights that lit up due to the tyre pressure had me thinking, each bus on any given day maybe made by different manufacturer. Will it not be the case that you’ll need knowledge on how that bus works, for example, what a warning light might mean? etc Plus…how can you not eat the yolk? It’s the best bit.
What happens about lost property on the bus ,is there a lost property office ,do people claim items ? if they dont can you keep them after a certain time has passed?
You hand all lost property in at the garage the route comes from, they hold on to a while, then it gets sent to the TfL lost property office. Except food, as food will go bad, so you either keep that or it gets binned
Thanks, and no, not really. They will ask what qualifications you got at school etc, but they will need you to be able to read and write and speak English
@@BristolRE If you're working in part time then probably you will need to complete GCSE but if you're working in full time then you don't need to complete GCSE exams, but you will still need to pass level 1 and 2.

Yes, parking can be am issue at a lot of bus garages
Very interesting, thanks. Good to see the human side of bus operations.👍
Thanks

Lol, hate yolk. Warning lights are pretty standard, images not words, so they can be used on buses exported / imported and have a standard meaning.

A day in the life of a bus driver. Very nice 👍

Do you always use the bus to get to work or do you drive sometimes?
I don't own a car, no real point when I have such good bus services locally 24hrs a day and free travel
I suppose that's the benefit of living in London
@@stephenhyland4256 The 24hr bus service, certainly. The free staff pass is standard on all bus companies as far as I'm aware.
Nice breakfast Peter 😍

Have you ever drove those LT buses
Sorry for late reply, no, I have not driven those

@@TrainBoy-tf9gh Not for a bus driver, you don't need GCSE. You need a car licence first and be able to write, read and speak English.
@@BristolRE Well I just guessing you probably need to be 17 years old or over to drive a bus because you will need a car license.
This is a nuce pov
Thanks
Ehen i grow up il drive 58
