  • David Guetta has sold over 40 million singles, he's world's most followed DJ producer on social media, and the most downloaded DJ ever. French DJ and music producer has dominated the dance music scene for decades. The BBC's Lucy Hockings gained an exclusive interview with him at the Cannes Lions festival which celebrates achievements in technology, advertising and innovation. She started by asking him about Taylor Swift and Apple Music after the company bowed to her demands that artists should be paid royalties during their three-month trial period.

    True progress is tempered change. Tempered change requires tradition and sacrifice for future generations, not "tomorrowland" hedonism because "today is a gift". Sorry ravers, but its true.

    They may not pay for music legally but they may as well pay for a concert ticket and become one of your customers. They wouldn't do that if they didn't have access to the music at all.

    What nonsense. 'Progress' is simply an abstract notion created by humanity as a whole. Thus, humanity can fight it, if they we so inclined.

      G96Saber but it's not. That's like calling 'Evolution' an abstract notion created by humanity...

    • @G96Saber
      @G96Saber 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mister K But it is. Evolution is uncontrollable in that it's a natural process, that exists regardless as to whether humans recognise its existence or not.
      Progress, on the other hand, only exists in that humans _think_ it exists.

    • @kolecava
      @kolecava 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      G96Saber we have already taken that natural process into our own hands.
      Progress is not a manifest of the human kind. Any civilized and intelligent beings would have Progress, otherwise we would be no different than the turtle in the sea or a Donkey on a farm.
      Progress:
      development towards an improved or more advanced condition.
      "we are making progress towards equal rights"
      "we have advanced (a deviation of progress) in medicine and technological means"

    • @G96Saber
      @G96Saber 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mister K For thousands upon thousands of years in the prehistoric world, humans made almost no progress whatsoever. Even when farming was invented, little progress was made for around 6000 years. It certainly didn't change the way humans lived. These people were still human though.

      G96Saber little progress? It's still progress. Progress isn't this unknown formula, it's a scientific progression in many different areas. Progress is real.
