    I also like to use a worn piece of sandpaper for final adjustments, especially on clear finish work like that propeller. Nicer finish and lower risk when you simply want that sanding task to be done. 🙂 Keep up the good work, Mistress of Propellers!

    I'm amazed at how little automation is used. The profiling saw is the only truly automated process but mostly it's the skill of the maker. Quite impressive.

    Hi Alaina It's so nice to see the care and attention you put into your work. I'm a guitar maker by trade (Semi retired) with an interest in WW1 aircraft (lots off wood and wire!) Your sanding reminds me of shaping a guitar neck which I do mainly by feel and ocasionally with a template to get me in the ball park. I was wondering as you sand to balance, does sanding at the end off the blade for a given amount taken off affect the balance more than sanding near the hub. Also do you also damp the wood down before spraying to raise the grain ? By the way is the black outfit designed so that you can see how much your sanding off more easily ? I would only wear black when sanding ebony !!! It was nice to watch your video with my breakfast here in Austria, sunny and cold. Stay safe regards Andrew

    • @CulverProps
      @CulverProps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for watching. I bet our crafts are very similar. Taking material off the end is more effective. I don’t wet them, and black is slimming 🤣😂🤣 hope you had a good day! We just woke up to a cool, damp, fall morning here in the Ozarks 🥰

  • @FlyingGuySFO
    @FlyingGuySFO 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So is there a difference between static and dynamic balance as far as the action of the prop is concerned? Since you are taking your balance to the weight of a few postit notes, how can you avoid at least doing a touch up balance post finish, which I assume is stain / some sort of weather proof finish? Additionally how do you judge where to remove material? Is the hub simply a better place to avoid having to touch the airfoil?

    • @CulverProps
      @CulverProps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dynamic balance has to happen on the engine
