You can actually "tighten" the rivet by tapping it lightly with a small hammer. Be sure and tap on the "flatter" side of the rivet-it seems a little softer than the head. I do this once or twice a year depending how often I use my fans.
Just started tai chi 3 weeks ago and I’m in love with it. My background in martial arts and yoga have brought me here on this journey, it’s an evolution. I didn’t think I would enjoy the fan so much… I just bought a bamboo one today as a matter of fact and stumbled upon this video. Very well explained. Your movements are graceful and beautiful. Enjoyed this video very much!
Thank you for this VERY helpful and informative video about tai chi fans. I am considering trying a fan form as my practice is starting to advance beyond the normal hand forms, so I appreciate the info you have shared.
Thank you for your informative video. I have had nothing but bamboo, in different colors and styles. I have them to match my teng suit for competition. I was considering investing in a metal fan. I am so glad I saw your video before making a purchase. I will stick with my wonderful bamboo fans.
Hello Tai Chi with Sifu Kuttel, Thanks you very much for your explanation end your demonstration, very well done. My question for you is : Do you have a online address which we can buy these fans in Canada, or we have to buy from USA only?
I've been looking for a while for a good normal hand fan that can open and close easily because I was very dissatisfied with a fan that I had purchased in a Montreal market. I've been looking online for days for a nice fan that is sturdy and good quality and loose and can open and close easily. However, I keep seeing these god forsaken, fucking absolutely idiotic fucking fans that have eight ribs or less, can't close for shit, and could presumably kill a man if you were to hit him with it. Your video has single handedly and benevolently explained what these fans are and why god appears to forfend my finding any good fan under thirty dollars.
I am actually not sure about Canadian suppliers, I will ask around and see if there are any suggestions within the Chinese martial arts community and let you know
That is a very interesting aspect, I would expect that a lighter fan would be better for practitioners with arthritis. So bamboo or plastic would be the better options.

I used to have a bamboo fan until I broke it in a fight when a guy used a broom to hit me so I bought a plastic fan

Thank you for sharing this information; much appreciated. Is there a store in Canada that you would recommend for purchasing tai chi fans? Thank you.

Thank you master! Which fabric is better?
扇轴的问题已经解决,有铝钉也有不锈钢钉,不锈钢钉比螺丝舒适些,谢谢分享
这是个好消息!谢谢你!
thank you for your useful tips
Talk about Arthritis hands... can they perform as good as normal people? Do they need special fans?

Does length matter if one has a petite bone structure? AKA I have short t-rex arms and I don't want to self defense my own face 😅
It shouldn't matter, but always check if there are smaller fan sizes available. Typically there are 11" fans offered with the more common 13"
