    I hope you all enjoy the video! Just something I wanted to mention. They do make a 2” lift that is bolt in for the Mk1 platform (CKW2). They can be installed with little to no modifications. Of course..wanting to be a bit different, we wanted to go with 4” of lift. I’ll need to extend the lower control arms slightly to compensate for camber. The main issue with this much lift is axle bind and rub. To this point we don’t have either though! 😃

      If you go to replace the windshield you can install a newer glue in one and not have to install another gasket style. I converted an older Jetta like that a few years back. Got a universal rubber molding and put it around the glass. Turned out pretty good and didn’t leak.

      So I’m watching this video and thinking man what a shame the passenger side looks beat up, then you pulled out the basketball and I’m thinking what in the hell is he going to do with that. If I hadn’t seen you pop the dents out with it myself I’d have never believed it, gotta say that worked way better than I thought it would. That side might be a little wavy still but it looks a helluva lot better than it did before.

      The suspension will bang. A bigger spring is made for a heavier vehicle the original spring is made for the right weight you could buy a leg extension kit so the suspension works. Looks good high. Nice 👍🖖🍺

      i agree. i guess i've gotta get a basket ball, and an american football for tighter spaces to keep in my body repair tool cart. they would be a lot cheaper than the $50-100 they want for the air bags they make to pop out dents.

    • @Enakaji
      @Enakaji 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got something similar thats actually ment for this style of dent repair. its basically an inflatable pillow that, when not inflated, is only around 2mm thick, so you can get it into really tight spaces. These things are called "Flatpad" or "Pressure pillow" and they are indeed very useful.

    • @handyhippie6548
      @handyhippie6548 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Enakaji i have a couple small ones with an inflator bulb and pressure release valve for forcing the top of a vehicle door frame to deal with a lockout. they work quite well, but they weren't cheap.

    The lift kit and knobby tires are just what the doctor ordered. And that basketball body repair was novel, and made for a unique helmet afterwards. All that's needed is tubular bumpers front and rear w/a skid plate to protect the engine, a truck style exhaust, and it's ready to go!

    My first car was a 1980 VW truck. It had a block heater and burned regular gas, not unleaded. I loved that thing. I drove it ( carefully) off road and never got stuck. Sadly a person ran a stop sign and I couldn't stop. I barely had time to hit the brakes before I broadsided a full size pickup. My beloved truck was wrecked.

    For the front and rear maybe some off road style light protector grilles rather than a wrap around brush-guard, I'm sure there must be some you could adapt. Add a single loop front bull bar and a single loop rear rollover bar... That would suit it more as the size of the truck warrants a less aggressive look. .. Just my thoughts, keep it up with the "Budget Buildz"... Love 'em.
