Greetings from Plymouth, UK. Lots of interesting information. Thank you. I bought this plant in a plastic bag from my local store as a root. When the leaves developed in Spring, they were so similar to what we call Spear Thistle, Cirsium vulgare, that I began to worry but seeing your plants has set my mind at rest.

Hi! Wonderful plants! I have planted some of them, they were growing and flowers were blooming, but suddenly they are "looking down" and starting to die. They have plenty of sun and regular water. Could it be cat poop? we have a few and I wonder if that's a problem... Grazie!!!

How do you propagate, by seed or by dividing? And if by seed - what do they look like?

Dividing is preferred to maintain the features of the existing plant. Plants that grow naturally from seed tend to become less colorful.

Hey there, thanks SO much for posting this video, I do have a small question that I hope you can help with...I've got 6 medium plant plugs that I'm ready to transplant out into a bed...how far apart should I space them out please? Regards Gail

Hi Gail, most things I read say about 18" or a little less. I wouldn't go less than that because they will expand and fill in. Thanks for the question, and for watching!

I love the flowers of this plant, but it's habit is woeful. It flops about, spilling over other perennials and is difficult to keep looking full and tidy. It's such a desperately great pity because the flowers are exquisite. I want this flower in my garden but it's wantonly floppy nature is a problem - why do no growers mention this?!

I just set a ring of 4' hogwire, any wire fencing, over the top early in the spring. The echinops fills it beautifully and stand straight and strong.
