PUUUUMPED you used footage from the recent Springboks vs. All Blacks match. What a test! IF anyone on this thread has any interest in the game, watching the extended highlights is an absolute treat.
@@TLynam Boy oh boy, the Highlights Package doesn't really do it justice, though. Rugby is a flow and tempo game, so chopping from bit to bob is a little frustrating: especially from someone who watched one of the great test matches. It really is some of the hard work that goes in between some of the 'highlights' that can go unnoticed. Still a good watch, though! Gee, I miss playing this game. Heading back in in the new year! I wonder if it is possible to find the full game somewhere wherever you are. I really, really think it is worth it as a watch!
@@abkonk burpees are phenomenal for rugby. Particularly when it comes to rucks and contesting the ball. You've got to bounce off the ground once you make a tackle so you can contest.
@@abkonk burpees are excellent. I have a love-hate with them. Great effect on your game but fucking awful to do 😂. The burpee is nearly a perfect exercise for a tackle-jackal.
When I was 8 years old I played lots of union but now that I’m in Australia It’s more NRL and AFL but this is still very good training and because of this I scored 3 tries in my game and this video helped me get faster.
I play basketball, but I used to workout with all my friends that only played rugby and football to maximize my strength to out power my opponents physically along with mentally.
This is exciting for me (haven't watched the video, but will soon)... I recently spoke to Mason about options (specialty/lineman) with regards to the How To Get Faster program, which I was quite interested in. I play Openside Flanker in Rugby Union. But it's great to see you have a Rugby Specific program now! Very excited to get into it in the new year after my current block! :)
What’s the point of doing front squats for rugby? Aren’t back squats just more bang for your buck if you’re trying to develop strength or is it about front squat being less fatiguing for the CNS.
I like front squats because of how hard they target the trunk, it helps with sprinting and also a great movement that carries over to back squats as well. Both lifts are excellent.
Thanks for this. I have a question though. Why would running 5-6 miles be detrimental to absolute strength? If you refuel yourself with the calories you lost surely there would not be a problem. Or am I wrong here? Thanks
You know why I don’t like your channel??And I watched a lot of it ??!!! Well here it’s because you are never down to the point ! Like this video , you mumble about speed power bla bla , but you never gave once a systematic training steps nor a little program guide line , so you are random, random and more random, I think you should get down to the point and cut the bull sir

LETS GO! Been waiting for a rugby one
I want to get this into the hands of my rugby coach; they still have the idea that strength is built with pushups, crunches, and nothing else
And burpees for some reason
@@abkonk burpees are phenomenal for rugby. Particularly when it comes to rucks and contesting the ball. You've got to bounce off the ground once you make a tackle so you can contest.
@@1517the_year ...and the cardio element also.

@@1517the_year exactly my man. They're the best exercise for the tackle-jackal. Throw in picking up a ball and you're good

He’s right. Long 5KM runs don’t always work. They’re good for base fitness and rehabbing but that’s about it.
Thanks heaps it my first year of rugby and I need to learn and get stronger!!!

You don’t want to build steady state muscle fibers in your legs. Going on long runs is shown to limit explosive muscle growth
