If you want to make your layer mask more precise, use Ctrl+Shift , or Ctrl+Shift+Alt , while clicking on a composite image in channels.
Or use “blend if”.

I've been using Selective Colour, what's the difference apart from the extra slider for brightness?
Selective color is another way to grade that ill show in an upcoming video, but the main difference is that you can target specific colors directly and adjust its luminosity.
now wouldn't it be better to work in CMYK for photos? Usually you want to print them. Or are you working for an online platform in the video?
