- We took a 7 day summer cruise aboard the Carnival Panorama that saw us porting in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo, Mexico. We had a great time and while there were things we certainly enjoyed about the experience, there were others that were not so hot.
Tune in as we review our vacation aboard the Carnival Panorama and discuss all the ship has to offer. We'll be sure to cover the aspects of the ship you will love and the aspects that you may not like at all! Remember, Abroad with the Burrells is not employed by any board of tourism, nor are we beholden to any sponsors, so you can always count on an HONEST and UNBIASED review.
If you're destined for the Carnival Panorama soon, or are considering booking a trip, you've come to the right place! Be sure to watch to the end as the aim of this video is to both prepare you for your upcoming adventure, or provide the information to help you make a more informed decision for your cruising options!

One of my favorite ships we enjoyed it so much we sailed twice.
IVE SAILED TWICE TOOOOO
We been on this cruise ship twice, Back in Mar 2024 and again in May 2024. Love the staff, after the Mar 2024, we miss everyone, and had to get back on and visit everyone. We weren't really there for the port stop, but just hanging out on the ship and visiting the staff! Now, everyone is on vacation and when they're back from vacation, they going be working on different ship.
Both cruises we were on were not crowded beacause it was off-peak season, but the weather in Mexico was nice to be on the cruise, but it was still cold in america lol! The CD was lot of fun as well! Made alot of friends from each cruise and we keeping in touch and planning on future cruises together!
Will I go back on the Panorama, maybe if our friends still on the cruise, but we want go on different cruises. Jubilee this Aug, Celebration this Sept and Firenze this Dec... 2 cruises booked for 2025 already.
Great video, thanks for sharing. A few tips for you in the future:
1. While tipping is automatically added if you don’t pre-pay (do not suggest), you can always go to guest services and have it removed. We tip people everyday who serve us and it typically extends the amount they charge due to service. Especially our room attendant. We want to make sure that those who serve us get what they deserve from us. So, while its added, it can be removed. Side note: we pre-paid for tipping in June on Jubilee and immediately had it reversed the day it posted. The service was absolutely horrible throughout the entire ship. We tipped where appropriate but, was not satisfied with service. Entire boat was complaining.
2. Unless the bartender is extra friendly and going above and beyond to serve us, we don’t tip. Check your receipts next time, they automatically include an 18% gratuity, especially at the specialty bars (i.e., on Jubilee: Alchemy and Dr. Inks). On Jubilee, the bartender’s at Alchemy were not deserving of the 18% but, couldn’t do anything about that.
3. Carnival’s busy season is June - Aug (kids out of school hence the higher prices). We mistakenly were on Jubilee mid June and will NEVER make that mistake again. The ship was very crowded with more teenagers than anything; it was not a great experience as their parents were not paying attention. One family was kicked off at a port for their children’s behavior.
Extrememly detailed and helpful comment. Thanks so much!
Gratuities are also shared with other staff, like cooks, dishwashers, laundry, people you use and take care of you but will never meet. Extra tips are for that particular person.
Loved the awesome video. Great job AWB! I am considering booking this cruise over Thanksgiving. It will be me and my fmailys first cruise. If the AWB family or anyone with experience can share any information about the weather at sea and crowds for the Thanksgiving week we can expect. After watching this my gut tells me it will be cold which means packed 'unexposed' and climate controlled sections. Which could likely make for a bad experience even with regular crowds.
To our knowledge, the climate will always be pretty mild along the Mexican Riviera. Of course, there's always the possibility for bad weather, but it may be worth going that time of the year. We'll defer to people with more experience cruising at that time of year. Usually we're in Europe/Asia in Oct/Nov.
A lot of this information is not correct. First, the back of the ship is not an adults only. It is the Havana suites/cabin private area. The serenity is the adults only (18+).
Thanks, we appreciate the correction :)
Mistake: Cruising in July. Any ship in the summer months is chaos. I actually really love the Panorama, but we have only ever cruised during summer break for the kiddos once. Never, ever again. We tend toward January and February. Less crowded, generally cheaper, and gets us out of WY in the most brutal part of winter. I wish they'd move Panorama to a place with a better itinerary because in 17 Carnival cruises, she's actually one of my favorites. Pretty meh over the Mexican Riviera, and not a fan of the Long Beach terminal on disembarkation day.
Thanks for the insight. We were thinking the same thing. Perhaps the time of year had a lot to do with this.
Don't forget you can prepay your gratuities so you don't end up with a bill at the end of the cruise. This helps take away the shock at the end and allows you to spend your money in a different way.
Excellent advice!
Damn, bro has body. Thanks for the review of the ship. Been thinking about giving Carnival a try, but damn that looked crowded.
Haha! Thanks for the kind words! We were thinking it probably had a lot to do with the fact that we cruised at peak season. The ship itself is beautiful. If you take the crowds away, it could be a better experience.
@abroadwiththeburrells I hate huge crowds like that on a ship so better to try during "off" season.
Just went on the Panorama June 28th....ship never seemed crowded at all...i love crusing and i love crusing to mexico, i live 20 minutes away from port so i will do mexico over and over to not have to fly. Only complaint i have about the Panorama is no pool in the adults serenity area and the hot tubs are never hot enough.
First correction: you do not get a wristband for the drink package. You use your cruise card. Cruising on any ship right now, especially during any kids breaks, spring break, winter break, summer break is to capacity. You think Carnival is busy, try MSC or Royal Caribbean.
Unless they remodeled there’s no serenity pool only two hot tubs on deck 13? Forward. Good video looks like you had fun
Hey guys. Even when you go for dinners in the MDR or specialty dinner it’s the gratuity optional since you’re already paying gratuity regardless?
Well, we'd say tipping is ALWAYS optional, but we get what you're asking :)
It's our understanding that the mandatory tip each guest pays at the end of the cruise is dispersed to all of the service workers on the ship. So, if you want to drop a little extra for exceptional service at a specialty dinner, I'd say you're free to do so. However, our rule of thumb moving forward is that we're under no additional obligation or pressure to add extra tips anywhere if we don't want to. Everyone is getting a tip from us at the end regardless. Hope that helps!
@@abroadwiththeburrells that does help thanks. I didn’t know this.
I avoid cruises during spring break & summer.. that way prices and crowds are less. Plus you avoid all the dreaded booze cruise.
yall might want to do land resorts. when you have kids in america you are stuck to their school schedule for vacations.
Absolutely! We have videos reviewing some of the resorts we've visited as well :)
I DO NOT CRUISE ON OVERCROWDED SHIPS, ESPECIALLY DURING SPRING BREAK!!....WE HAD ABOUT 1/2 TOTAL OCCUPANCY ON PANORAMA IN SEPTEMBER 2023.....NO PROBLEM!!!!..THE SHIP IS JUST BLAND AND NONDESCRIPT!!
This is why I don't cruise in peek season
could not pay me a billion dollars to cruise on Carnival again.
then you should never get on silversea either
