    Hi Mike. Best short tutorial on Loudness I've seen (and I've watched a whole bunch). Thank you!

    Use this one a lot. I tend to use it slightly differently not sure if best way or just felt it worked with how I put tracks together. I help to put a 2hr radio show together for wife, so there are 30 ish music parts, chatting etc. I tend to run track make note of adjustment to volume from plugin and individual change clip volume. Probably a slow method and not how plugin is demonstrated by waves but they show just one track. Now I tend to put all music tracks through match loundness to get lufs wanted and use plugin to check additional jingles that wife adds at the last minute off the cuff. Lol
    Great tips as usual many thanks for taking time to do these videos.

      Match loudness is always a good starting point to ensure further processing gets off to a good start.

    Thank you for this, Mike! One thing I really would like to see (which I think could be interesting) is how ERA6 would edit your own audio. I'd love to see you record raw audio (zero processing whatsoever) and then see how the output of ERA6 compares to your own edits! You can also feed it already-processed audio just to see if it would do anything else (I imagine edits on your processed voice would be minimal but it would be cool to see it just give no processing recommendations and just say "nope, it's good as it is" haha)

    How do i know if I'm getting the "True" sound from my soundsystem that is only plugged into the MIC out of my laptop? I have this thought that all sound systems sound different, but if we all recorded everything to a podcast standard with LUFS and what not, how can i be sure i am hearing all frequencies correctly? if this makes sense.
    Do you suggest an external soundcard? or is there eq software i can use? thank you and i hope my question makes sense. I can always count on you to give us the best advice.

      I wouldn't use the Mic in on your laptop and I would recommend either an audio interface or mixing desk

      There is very little EQ applied to my voice

    If our "short term" is flashing red through out the track, is this an indication that we should be lowering over volume?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, if the "short term" meter in Waves WLM Plus is consistently flashing red, it suggests that the audio level exceeds the recommended maximum short-term loudness level and should be lowered to ensure compliance with broadcast standards and a better listening experience.

    Hi. I am a bit confused. You are going with -16 but I thought podcasts were -19. Any help greatly appreciated!

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      -16LUFS is the accepted standard for podcasts

      @@MikeRussell The confusion I get though is mono versus stereo. It seems 16 is for stereo and 19 for mono?
