  • Leonardo da Vinci's ‘Virgin of the Rocks’ is his most enigmatic painting. And it’s not just the Madonna’s unusual setting that raises questions. Why did he paint not one, but two versions of the work?
Part of the Louvre’s collection in Paris, ‘Virgin of the Rocks’ is a highly mysterious work of art. Why did da Vinci place the Madonna in a cave? What hidden symbolism lies in the unusual background, which does not appear in the Gospels? The film traces these questions through the clues da Vinci himself left in his personal notebooks, known as the Codex Atlanticus.
The artist’s works are always full of significant symbolism and allegory. The journey toward understanding the ‘Virgin of the Rocks’ begins with da Vinci's move from Florence to Milan. It was there that he hoped to embark on larger and more interesting projects. Can answers to this painting’s mysteries be found in Leonardo's career and in interpretations of other works? Or will its secrets remain forever hidden?

I was ready to roll my eyes at the artist who they hired to recreate the 'Virgin of the Rocks' but it was so fascinating and insightful. You could really feel his wonderful passion for the painting. Reading Walter Isaacson's biography, I found his treatment of this painting oddly unsatisfying and incomplete. This documentary is such a great correction.

Nice documentary, scholars got it all wrong falling prey to 19th centrury genius myths, classifications and localism. The renaissance in Italy was in many cities, not just in Florence. The fact that Leonardo worked in Milan made the renaissance there exciting as well. He did not have a salary so he would move to whereever they would feed and pay him.

This artwork is a cosmic drama. Mary as Virgo and the two boys (John and Jesus) are Gemini. One of the boys with the girl is to convey that the same celestial image was interpreted as a hermaphrodite. The cave has a special cosmic meaning, that one of the boys (Jesus) is a reincarnation of the Orion Man (elder Jesus) who moves “underground” from the northwest sky region to the southeast, the region of the stone (also known as the philosopher’s stone, or the Rock that Moses struck) cave and women. With the hidden underlying figures da Vince was conveying the idea that older cosmic ideas were transformed into the new Christian iconography, depicted as Virgin Mary, John, and Jesus.

Do you know anything about the hidden symbolism of Leonardo da Vinci's paintings such as "The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne" and "Virgin of the Rocks"? All the videos on TH-cam only describe the technique and other obvious details. One might mention the rather fanciful suggestion of Sigmund Freud. And that's it! But it is obvious that the Christian subject matter of these works is only the visible layer. What do you think is hidden inside?

You can only wonder about legend-building. The Maxentius Basilica was a Christian basilica which could only have been built AFTER Christianity had been established. (307-313). How could it have collapsed in the night of Jesus' birth? And WHY, for god's sake?

HMmmm, immaculate conception - nice thought, but repeating it by the church (receiving a child by having sex is an original sin etc. ....)doesn't make it more true. More likely, Mary was very young, conceived before she had her first period, which is anatomically possible and so the story was born - most likely after the child.

🎁Truth in plain sight! Leonardo DaVinci Paintings
🦁The birth of the 1st Lisa in 1479 The 2nd Lisa was born in 1979 (500 years between the resurrection servant in the bible and noted in Enoch)
🦁If you calculate this year 2022 minus the year the 1st Mona Lisa died 1542=480 years, the same amount of time from Exodus to the rebuild of the new temple in the Bible. The new temple is her. The 2nd Mona Lisa is the Bride of Christ, Queen of Heaven, Mother, Wisdom, Daughter Zion, Sophia, Ephraim, Isa, Behemoth, Isis, The Female Christ Daughter Zion- The Mona Lisa 2nd
🦁the initials in her eye is her name initials
🦁the V & 5 sceneries are the 5 places the 2nd Lisa has lived in after marriage. 🦁The 12 pins firstly in a shape of a cup represents her surname
🦁secondly around her head in X-ray represents 12 stars just like in Revelation the woman with 12 stars signifying her holiness.
🦁The right hand over the left signifies she is the right hand of God.
🦁She sits between Two columns (Mother and Father)
🦁The number under the bridge 75 is the year she was snatched away Revelation 12:5
🦁She is one of the two witnesses
🦁His other paintings link the Mona Lisa to them as well, the crab sketch represents her star sign Cancer.
🦁The ferret and lady represents what the 2nd Mona Lisa was called as a child.
🦁Portrait of a woman represents her eldest daughter. Her youngest daughter is painted as saint Anne(True Royal Bloodline)
🦁The last Supper shows a chalice cup is her surname.
🦁The twist in her fabric on her shoulder represents Gods humour & twist to the biblical story, savior is female this time.
She came from Christ and Mary Magdalene linage. Christ didn’t die on the cross it was a metaphor for ego death, once you have an ego death you are enlightened and are reborn. Who will come to Christ and find her.
